Title: DB ??
Post by: Warnerlewis on May 08, 2019, 09:40 PM
I bought this the other day sold it as a viper, but since a few people has said it's not anyone got any ideas ? The decals don't look original to be honest and pealing off so not good copies either(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190508/80d8f0c32fda9125fd4042b316bdc82c.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190508/a01e3d5344ac2aba0c12b7ae6e044e46.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190508/509524db26c725b25abd27b7f8d87348.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190508/8b745c2a03d6ca102167913f4d1a710f.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190508/d9869a84eea77ed4f43bb14d6d14234b.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190508/0a7c28e4fdd782fa24881a0d0b794705.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190508/4a094a9557d2f7d9798b31fe8d49957d.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190508/7733b6d6605772f10ff916e3ce50057d.jpg)

Best I can do is:

your bike was built by Formosa in Taiwan (F) in 1984 (4)

Its a looptail so this should mean it is either a Viper or a Pacer 500

A Pacer 500 has 500 stamped on rear dropout and does not have a matchbox behind the BB.

A Viper does have a matchbox so I believe yours is at least Viper esque

Agree with Smidsey. I have a Pacer 500 from that year 84 and it doesn't have the matchbox behind the seat tube and a Pacer will have the 500 stamped on the dropouts (inside or outside). So i would say a it's a Viper.  fistblump

Oh, and the decals are indeed incorrect, they are the earlier prismatic ones (i put these on my 84 aswell as the're the decals everyone associates with DB bitd). There seems to have been different decals used in 84 (my f/f originally had the red ones).
