Title: BMX for our Son
Post by: tobytyke on August 09, 2019, 01:28 AM
All,,, we are looking at getting the boy (12) a bike & he is after a BMX like his friends. It is a Voodoo & I’ve seen them on the net as well as in Halfrauds. We’ve got upto £200 tops. Are there any better options out there. TIA..... Lee

Lee, spend £200 on a decent second-hand new school and you'll get something really good like WeThePeople / Sunday / Kink / Subrusa etc with decent parts on it. It will have a couple of scuffed and scratches but that's the first thing kids do to bike anyway  :daumenhoch:

Local Gumtree or eBay with a 25 mile radius should give you some results, then stick a link up here for a check if it's any good  :coolsmiley:

Thanks for the replies,, I personally would go that route..... However She who must be obeyed is adamant that he has a new one....... So on that note, granted with our budget, what would be decent enough makes to look at ?

TIA...

No offence Lee but he's 12, so you need to make the desicion surely ???

You're just gonna end up with a heavy, crap bike that will be worth less than £50 this time next year when he wants a better one. Spend your money on a tidy full-chromo second hand one and it will still be worth about £150 next year if he gets bored of BMX, or if not then it will be as equally scratched as a new one bought now :-\

If you have the time to look you will definitely be able to find a second hand one that has barely been used and will pass as new, perhaps just needing a bit of a clean.  fistblump
