Fook all to do with me!

Nice John ?? don't see those everyday of the week , cool frame :coolsmiley: :daumenhoch:
-
OK so a little progress - got the old girl polished up.
Had this frame since 2009 lol :-[ :LolLolLolLol:
So she's structurally sound with a couple of battle scars here and there but nothing serious.
This original pic shows the patina back in 2009 so as you can imagine when I pulled it out to work on it was even worse with another 10+ years of Nickel oxidising :10_2_12:
I tend to measure polishing sessions in beers rather than time - this was the result of a 4 beer sesh........

Turned out quite nice for 41 year old Nickel I reckon :)
Decals next.........

My arms ache just looking at that. Came up beautiful though.

"wantit"
Wow, came out awesome John, so looking forward to seeing your efforts with her
-
Lovely looking frame sets :4_17_5: they just look so strong especially with that gusset :daumenhoch:
-
That was well worth 4 beers! :daumenhoch:
-
Cheers gents - yeah quite pleased how she polished up - worth the cramp :buck2: :LolLolLolLol:
So decal time.....
Well some Jag adverts / catalogues have the team with the prism gusset decal and DeCoster fork decals and others have the gold Jag Team decals or a mix of both.
Prism gusset decal & DeCoster fork decal :

Gold gusset decal & DeCoster fork decal :

Gold gusset decal & gold Team Jag fork decal :

Ultimately the bike will be built pretty much as spec for the first picture above (with a little artistic license) but I was unsure on the decals.
I was in 2 minds which way to go and tried the various permatations.....
Ultimately, with the frame in front of me I prefered the gold team decals- they looked slicker, more uniform and better matched. The DeCoster decals looked a little out of place - too yellow rather than gold if you catch my drift.
So here she is in her going out clothes with a nice goose stamped headset and her gold stem waiting to be popped in.......

Time to get building........

Cheers gents.... a little update - slow progress unfortunately but a bit of resto has been accomplished over the last few days.....
The original seat in the 79 Jag catalogue is either a suede kashi or suede maytex. Now in my build notes I'd written down years ago I had a NOS "shelf worn frayed leather" unstamped Kashi that I was apparently going to pull the leather off and re-cover in suede but when I pulled it out of storage it just looked too good to remove the leather and I decided to fix it up and use it for the build with the OG leather finish intact.
Bit of carefully applied gorilla super glue with the brush aplicator, a load of clips and a handful of patience and she looked almost good as new:

Next up - pedals. So the pedals on the team Jag as per the Team mongoose of the time are the much sought after and hard to find MKS BM-1 rat traps. I have a NOS set of these on my 79 Team Minigoose.... but, for this Jag I had aquired (many years ago) a rusted, but structurally sound, set that need a little TLC.
A bit of de-rusting and a little paint and I think they came up just fine for this kind of build since it's a spruced up survivor frame and I think these suit the build just right.......

Getting there......
Hopefully get this finished fairly soon..... but got a few on the go at the moment :10_2_12: :LolLolLolLol:

OK so this got put on the back burner whilst I was finishing the 75 and It's been a bit of an up and down build and i've changed a couple of parts choices along the way for various reasons but I'm happy with the parts selection now.
First off I've decided to put the restored MKS BM-1 pedals on my Supergoose 1 and have decided to go with a set of NOS MKS BM-2 pedals for this build instead.........
Next up - grips.
So I've decided (in the end) to put these lovely NOS Winners Circle Octopus grips to good use as they are era correct for the build and will look right I reckon.

Now a little trip into the history files if anyone is interested.........
Winner's circle grips of various types were seen on many a late 70's early 80's bike but did you know that they were made by "Ornate Design Inc." aka.... ODI of mushies fame :)
Anyways..... couple of reference pics for ya (notice the crest on the catalogue cover and the same crest stamped on the grips - I love that kind of detail  )

And finally pads........
Now I love pad sets - like really obsessively love pad sets :-[ :LolLolLolLol:
If I was forced for whatever reason to sell my collection I'd keep the pads :LolLolLolLol:
Now I've had these little beauties tucked away for years.
NOS mint rare as fook Jag pad set :smitten: :smitten:
But !
I'm not sure I want them on the build lol :2funny: :10_2_12: :LolLolLolLol:
I'll snap a couple of pics with them on and then they can go back into the holy chest of pads, but for me the Team Jag just looks sexier padless - in fact I reckon all mongoose made team race frames look best without pads apart from the Supergoose but that's just me :)

Anyways that's the update.
She's mostly put together now so hopefully finish her off tomorrow and get some outside pics over the weekend all being well...............
