Title: 1987 Hustler Fred Blood
Post by: Chilli Rinse on October 06, 2020, 11:58 AM
I saw this Hustler listed on the bmxmuseum a while ago, she arrived all og in survivor condition from Virginia Beach with the og bike shop decal intact. Anlun made hi ten steel frame, forks and Hustler bars. She came equipped with an ACS rotor, Poverty crank (I think), General pegs, Viscount Dominator seat and VP 767 pedals(non crmo). She has a few battle scars, paint loss and scratches as well as fading and general wear and tear. I don't know why but I had to have her 🤣
I removed and replaced the buckled Kinlin 36s wheels with 89 Simplex 6 spoke mag wheels, perished Kenda K55 tyres with new Kenda K55 tyres, rusted chain with new yellow and silver YBN chain, bent painted Hustler seat post with Nos Odyssey lay back, Formos calipers and Formos levers with 80's Lee Chi MX FS calipers and Lee Chi Tech 4 levers, steel seat clamp with 80's alloy MBK seat clamp.
Added new eyeball dust caps and removed the front & rear reflectors.
She was fully stripped down, cleaned, then fresh grease for the headset and bottom bracket. The frame and forks had a soapy wash as did the bars, seat, grips, pedals, pegs and sprocket. The Simplex mags were given the same treatment and then some fresh grease.

Thanks Carl, although the 48s were lovely I had to put the mags back on. They set her off a treat in my humble opinion. I wanted something a bit different and in budget then I saw the Blood. Sorted  fistblump

Cheers John, they're a bit different to the usual choices and for me ridiculously cool. I said it before and I'll say it again, the best looking mag for me. Probably not on par with the preferred brands regarding quality, sometimes though aesthetically pleasing wins the day  :coolsmiley:
