Title: The Joys of Ebay
Post by: Avro on October 17, 2020, 08:45 PM
I have just listed some bits on ebay and the muppet messages have already started! Minutes in!

Here is a message from an Ebay muppet about some rims i have listed, He/she seems more informed than me despite not ever seeing the rims. Apparently good anodising should not be shiney, blimey, the hours I wasted going for that look!

'these are definatly refinshed mate

and very badly as well....they shouldnt be shiny like that....

makes them look like they have had a coat of gloss paint put on '

...I should have gone over them with 800 grit to make them a bit dull I guess.

I like the way that people's attitudes change between FB and eBay. On Monday they call people out for shill bidding on FB, then 3 days later they're sending inbox messages on eBay saying ?hiya mate, I really like your item etc etc?

Funny old bunch.

Unfortunately Peter the joys of ebay..
I get messages about how nice the bits I have up and will put a bid after so many questions.. They win and never pay then stop answering..
Then another listing again won item then straight away message I just been laid off so cannot pay..
Had one with 20 messages plus about an item , agree very reasonable postage cost to never here from them again..
The bidding war with offers ..
They max out the bid offers to ask what's the lowest you respond and 100% of the time does that include postage  :knuppel2:
I got three continuously messages me it least once a week just three words ?what's your lowest?
I Just block them now  >:D

...Thank you for the replies, I know I am not alone.
I work for an automotive mail order business, we have been mailorder since 1989. The internet has been a great way to enpower people, buyers in this instance. Why do people message/post about things they know nothing about? It is as if the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encyclopedia_Galactica was fiction...uh wait?

Although with any listing I post, I always switch off the international shipping option, I've had 2 occasions in as many weeks that have been ignored and the winning bidders are both oversea.

What the fook is wrong with people?

Now I've got someone in Germany winning one of my items.

Sold an item where I?d turned international bidding off and a German guy messaged and begged me to let him buy. I agreed and 3 weeks later said he hadn't had it. Had to do a full refund. Lesson learnt....will never post anywhere unless it's UK again.

Just reading your post here Steve has made me rethink. So I've messaged the guy in Chicago, apologised and told him that he won't be getting the item and I'll be relisting it tonight.
