Hi guys got a mates mk2 night burner thinking about restoring it
Needs a respray and some parts reforming and wheels rebuilding
Am I crazy to do the work on a low end bike or should I strip it and sell the parts
Thoughts please

Restore it or sell it complete so someone else can preserve it. No many folks here would advocate you part it out for profit. :-\

Btw welcome to the forum. ;)

Low end bike?? Go and wash your mouth out with soap!!
Post a pic let's see what it's like?
Unless my burner was beyond repair I could never break it, always somone that would do a resto if you didn't fancy it.

If you were going to restore it as an 'investment' it would probably cost you what the bike is worth if you did it properly with 80's parts.....
But if you want to restore it with a few repro parts and enjoy your own little slice of the eighties it would be worth doing.
When you say some parts need 'reforming' what are you referring to?!

This. Just all of this. I hate it when people part out bikes for profit. They just end up floating around usually on the wrong bike :(

Sorry not reforming rechroming .
I know shame to break up. Felt a lot of nostalgia come back when I striped it .my first bike was a burner.
Ended up racing for a few years

It doesn't need chroming dude. Superbike Dan can do "Superchrome" which is basically chrome powder with transparent black over it. It's very close to the original look, without spending hundreds of pounds.
It's the same way guys restore the Super Burner et al. They used to use candy paint over the top of the chrome, but candy paint is very thin and easy to scratch.

We definitely need to see some pics. :daumenhoch:

The anno on those parts looks good to me. You can polish the sides of the rims to make them look better. Paint or powder? locally. Stuck seat tube? heat.

Gosh I wish my burners were in that condition when I got them!!

Cheers guys the frame is at the spray shop and the decals and consumables ordered.
What can I do with the saddle to polish up and I think the pedals need stripping .Are there new end caps available anywhere?
Thanks paul

There's a guy on FB that restores seats, you'll be able to get some 3D printed pedal end caps on there too somewhere.
Try the Burner groups.
