got to send some bars for paint - how you get theĀ grips off without damaging them???????
thanks in advance
the silverstreak ;)
-
poke a thin screwdriver down between the grip and the bar and spray in wd40
use wd40 for refitting too!
-
I poke a spare spoke carefully down the grip, lift it a bit and spray WD-40, then PULL.
-
thanks boys ill give that a whirl, now wheres that wd40 ;)
-
just done it!!
yup - wd40 to get em off but i use a bit of hairspray to get em back on.
-
yep i use the old poke trick, but i find a drop of wasing up liquid better.
and it washes out easier after..
the best thing for putting new grips back on is hair spray, drys like glue
-
daze you reading my mind....... ;)
-
wd40 is a moisture displacer and disappears completely
-

anyway, how do you handlebar grips off?

Boil the kettle, put on rubber gloves, fill a jug, lean the bike into the jug, leave it there for 20 seconds, give them a tug (easy for the average bloke) voila, one pair of undamaged grips.
And you can ride straight away cos of no oily slippery stuff!
