Title: Tange headlock probs.
Post by: Lawrie on October 04, 2005, 09:02 AM
Hey fellas.

My first mail to the site, sorry it's not more interesting than my headlock problems!

Here goes anyway. I have a Quadangle (i'll send in pics when i've put it back together) to which i'm trying to fit a Tange headlock. The problem is that the steerer tube of the Landing Gears is so long that the top 'nut' piece of the headlock can't screw down far enough so that it's flush with the silver washer type part of the headlock. The only way I can see to resolve this problem is to either cut down the steerer tube (which I probably will when I have the tools) or to leave the washer from the Hatta headset in place, so that it reduces the length of the steerer tube.

I know that may be a bit hard to understand :o but i'm hoping that some of you have had a similar problem and fixed it, in which case you'll know what i'm on about!

Anyway if anyway can help out i'd be grateful.

Cheers, Lawrie.

see how the height feels with spacerage first

if its too high then go for sawage

back when all i could find were tall bars i'd cut down the steerer tube, to drop an extra half inch (before inverted clamp on stems etc) for centre of gravity lowerage

welcome to radbmx.co.uk. get your saw out

Ok, here it goes. Sometimes when a headset was purchased bitd from the same model there was this silver ring added to solve this 'small' problem. A ring, made by Tioga and made especially for that headset. Perhaps you will notice 2 allen keys (black) inside of the headlock. Now, does 2 allenkeys thingies (my English is not that ok...) tight them all the way down when they touch that silver ring. Hopefully you understand and hopefully there will be a pictured placed soon and hopefully you find what you are looking for!
