im the no1 novice on this site when it comes to getting technical, so any advice would be great, got a old leary turbo project to tidy up through the winter and want to get the black paint off the calipers , looks like they have been painted black at some point and im sure they should be chrome or highly polished silver, ive worked out i need to take the brake blocks off ;), but what stuff should i use to get the paint off????
thanks again boys , id be shafted without this site

shh keep it a secret lol
dont tell him
just get some nitromors mate if its painted
or the oven cleaner if its anodised mate
-
im pretty sure that if there dc's it wont be paint but anno....
however if they have been over painted, then you need to strip the brakes down completely till you are left with the two arms....then hit em with nitromors or equivalent paint stripper to remove the paint, thrnif there is annodising underneath, to strip that you will need to get that off using caustic, (available from b and q ) or i use high strength oven cleaner, which is caustic but i feel its less harsh and more controlable.
i think the hard man that is scary leary did a how too on stripping anno, and the geezer didnt even use gloves, he truly is double hard.
hope this helps.
