Title: New 3 piece crank - Your suggestions appreciated
Post by: deckfourtyfour on July 25, 2005, 01:32 PM
Hi

Payday this week, so gonna replace the worn out one piece crank and bottom bracket on my ride.

I have a '99 Redline cruiser frame.

New to this game, so looking for your suggestions/advice on size (I know it's not a Euro BB) and quality. Oh and the cranks have to be chrome - the theme for the project. They do not need to be old school, it's just the quality I'm looking for.

Cheers chaps

AM Cycle, Ebay, Redline flight 3 piece, get em for about $100 in chrome and the postage is cheap too.

Simple.

Case closed.

I think the Flights are actually about $135+ P&P. They do a cheaper model the Proline, which are good, but slightly heavier than the Flights. Should you be interested, I have a spare new set in chrome, 180mm arms with sealed US BB. Unfortunately I got hit by Customs when I imported them, so would have to ask for more than it would cost you to buy from the States, but you may not want the hassle of buying them from overseas. If you are interested then let me know.

I'd go with the others and say Redline Flights Got mine from the same seller as below. Arrived quickly and I didn't get stung for the Tax, however that may have been more to do with luck.

Same as mine Black Rat, where did you get yours from. Thinking of getting a second set for the Kappa.

Can't remember which seller... I'll have to check....

The prices vary, from what I have seen.

Its worth tracking a set down though.

By the time shipping and import taxes have been applied its not that cheap,
- exchange rates have been better, as well...

Both REDLINE and PROFILES are the business...  I would choose REDLINE though.

Yep - I prefer the REDLINES.

I'll be getting some more soon, if they are still available...

I wonder if they will run out at some point ?

I only paid $149 for mine with the chainwheel.

They do seem to fluctuate in price quite a bit though.

Gonna get the Prolines from Sanmarcopizza. They look sweet.

Might follow up the leads on the stateside sellers though for my next project. Not sure what that'll be yet. Wouldn't mind starting with a f&f like that mint Skyway TA posted today.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

I got my Redline's from here

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7170297496&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Came well quick, but did get hit for tax, but only £10, so I think there worth it.
