i'm sure i have read or seen somewhere? that the TA has "skyway" on the sticker and the TA XL has "skyway ta" on the sticker.
there were two sizes of the ta.
although the XL version was introduced later than the original.
i can't prove my explanation further.
further debating and investigation may ensue???????
get your tape measures out boys,
BUT don't bother unless you know the original stickers for your frame!!!
maybe the tale of the tape will shed some light on this matter?????
-
yup, the standard TA is 18.5 Vs the XL at 19.5. No idea what year they released the XL though.
-
ok then what colour were the frames and which downtube sticker?
my theory is that ta XL had skyway ta sticker on downtube and the ta had skyway sticker????
how else can you tell other than measuring???
-
Think my white TA is 18.5 and says Skyway
Any good??
-
No, there are TA XL decals especially for the TA XL.
-
that's cool, my theory is the skyway tA sticker is for the XL and skyway for the regular. it just seems logical to me
thats why all the early ones got just skyway sticker cuz they are the original length frames
GET MEASURING or i'll need tamazepams by the bucketload
can't sleep at night thinking about bloody skyway stickers!
has anyone else lost sleep over this ?
-
Just to throw a spanner into the theories. Here is a picture of my 84 white TA which measures 18.5
the down tube sticker is TA

I personally think skyway just stuck on what ever stickers they had
-
the xl T/A has it written on the sticker as san says.
so that aint it
-
theory on fire then fair enough :LolLolLolLol:

Well i sent hte question to Skyway and go the following reply
Adrian:
Thanks for the email.
Good question. I will check into it and let you know.
I used to race for Skyway and I know there was a difference between the original TA’s and the new versions. The originals of course had the cool tear-drop tubing and the later versions did not.
Stay tuned.
