well nearly..... trying to get a suntour stem on, it would not go on, it seems the fork tube is to narrow by about a millimeter, which is a fookin mile out in engineering terms, started tw.ting it with the lump hammer in a frenzy, dont like being beaten, but would not go past the wedge angle, there is now deep gouging in the stem shaft, which ok, is hidden.... but it fookin pis.ed me off..... :2gunsfiring_v1:
just thought i would share my anger....

easy tiger... the fork tube may require a good clean out. I had the same issue, gave it a good scrubbing with a wire bottle cleaning brush, job sorted :daumenhoch:
-
spit on the end n whack the fooker in witha big mash hammer, im fookin awesome at fookin stuff up me :daumenhoch:
-
had the same prob m8 landing gear n suntour dont go its the stem
bit fat, use a tuff neck r grinder to the shaft on the suntour,
sounds bad but 1/2 the suntours just dont fit.

yep! its not needing a clean out, it is the wrong size, was whakking it with the lump hammer, will have to put the tuff neck back on.... :'( i just fancied a colour code change..... thanks

:-\
My PK has a Suntour stem on it and didn't have any problems with it going in ???

Might just need reaming out, sounds like the headtube has some swarf in it :daumenhoch:
-
is it a powerstem?
I've had the SR stems in two different sizes, one had a fatter shaft by .2mm and wouldn't even go through the headset locking nut.
-
yse! a power stem joe....
theres on muck in there marty, or paint, it minty clean like new, its defo the wrong size.... :'(

Check the internal diameter of the forks, it should be 22.2mm or slightly larger and then check the diameter of the stem shaft, that should be 22.2mm. I'm guessing you'll have a pair of verier calipers?

lol, no i havent, but here the evidence....
score marks in the shaft....

couldnt even get the lock nut on....

thats as far as it will naturally go in the forks, without force....
even scored the inside of the landing gears....

The shaft must be too thick as i had no problem at all with my powerstem and lock nut ;)

Try a different stem ???
:coolsmiley:
-
I've had one that taper internally from about 2/3 of the way down so you can't get long shafted stems in but never ones that the stem won't start in, sounds like a duff stem to me.
-
its not duff!!! went on my gt ok....
