BMX Chat / Re: Today I bought, or it got delivered, or I fitted...
« Last post by Mikku on January 06, 2026, 03:29 AM »
After my failure to buy anything over Christmas, bah humbug, I have just redeemed myself with some New Year purchases. Yesterday a load of late mid-school/early new school parts were posted for sale on one of the Japanese websites I frequent - decent stuff including from Odyssey, Primo, Shadow and Snafu. Mostly NOS and reasonably priced too. I spotted them by chance during my lunchbreak, by which time quite a few bargains had been snapped up. I couldn't do much else about it at work or, for annoying technical reasons, when I got home either. However, I have just been able to snag a Shadow railed seat, Shadow railed seat post and Primo seat post clamp. All NOS and hopefully going to find homes on either my Sunday park rig or Quamen race rig, since they're similar eras (2007 and 2009 respectively) and I've been thinking about changing a few things out on both. Fingers crossed everything arrives safe and sound by the weekend. :daumenhoch:

New School Racing / 2026 Race Blog – Year 10 – Here We Go Again!
« Last post by Mikku on January 05, 2026, 11:43 AM »
So off we go for another year of racing in the Land of the Rising Sun. As recently mentioned, this year could well see a change of race scene, but for the time being I plan to kick off the season doing KBU’s Winter Series in Osaka. Apparently the Oizumi track is going to be rebuilt, so the three-race series will take place at Osaka’s other track at Kishiwada. The first round is on 18th Jan, so I’m hoping my back has healed up fully before then, as I really don’t want to put myself out of action by doing too much too soon, which is what happened before Christmas in an over-enthusiastic session at the skate park. Live and learn – or not, as the case may be! ;D

I was desperate to buy something BMX over the Christmas period but failed miserably! :2funny:

I did, however, switch over the wheels between my Crupi and Quamen race rigs. Only the wheels though, not the tyres, so it felt like fixing four punctures! Then there was all the pita v-brake adjusting that goes with it. Got there in the end though. :daumenhoch:

I was correct. The cog does not fit. However, I am going to file the gears so it does. Hard to explain. Any way, I remembered last time I fitted gears I kinda broke one of the jockey wheels. In my defence it was crappy flimsy plastic, but yeah. So I got a pair of these.

With Santa having put his feet up for another year and me sat here with a sore back after an overly enthusiastic, pre-Christmas session at the skate park, it’s time to wrap-up this 2025 race blog. :daumenhoch:

This year I made it to 10 races - six at Joetsu in Niigata, three at Oizumi in Osaka and one at Gorilla Park in Saitama. Not as many or as varied as last year but I also had quite a few pump track sessions and even more at the skate park, so did plenty of BMXing overall. I also raced three different bikes, starting off on the Redline, switching back to the GT then giving the Quamen its race debut before going back to the Redline! It’s taken me a while to get used to the longer lines of the latter but am now feeling more comfortable on it, so will continue with that next year.

Talking of 2026, there are potentially some big changes afoot, which may see me having a different local track. I was also hoping to make another trip to the States but USABMX recently announced some rule changes for foreign riders which has kind of knocked that idea on the head. I may be visiting the UK though, so as one door closes, another one opens. Whatever happens, I’ll continue to keep the RADBMX flag flying in my tenth season of racing!  :Great_Britain:

BMX Chat / Re: After BMX?

It’s a way of life for me, and it will never change💯

Same! I have other hobbies and interests (snowboarding, cars, motorsports) but BMX in one form or another always rises to the top.  :daumenhoch:
