Forgot to mention that I have bought a pair of NOS Swallow 20x1 3/8 tyres for when the wheels are finished, which wont be any time soon. I paid £35 shipped from BMX PRODUCTS AUSTRALIA, I think that’s a bargain.

Thread bump… A very recent eBay purchase was delivered today, Suzue low flange hubs, flip flop rear. NOS but the front had colour loss. Virgin cones, races and bearings revealed when stripped down to oven pride away the ano. The rear was mint but it had to be done, sorry folks. Lightly polished and reassembled with fresh grease, they are beautifully smooth as expected. I have Ukai 20x1 3/8 rims that need the paint stripping off, ready for a rub down and light polish. NOS Asahi spokes purchased for cheap from Alan’s. I’ll keep you posted.

Headed up to Niigata on Wednesday (a national holiday here) for Round 1 of the JBA race series at Joetsu. A four-hour drive but it's one of my favourite places to race in Japan, so well worth the effort. I’ve been racing there for 7 years but with my pending move to Tokyo, it will be difficult to get there on a regular basis from now on, so it felt like a bit of a farewell race. Decent weather and a good turnout of regulars added to the sense of occasion, at least for me. There were 10 riders in the 30 and over mixed class, split into two racks of five with the top four from each going into the main. After my recent outings on the Quamen, it was good to be back on the lighter and roomier Redline and I immediately felt faster than last month's races. That feeling translated to the motos and I went 3/3/2 to qualify for the main. With third pick I went for gate 4 and got out well, mixing it down the first straight and fighting for 3rd into the first berm. I lost that place down the second straight, then found myself battling for fourth. I got overtaken in the third straight, took that back by diving down the inside of the third berm but lost speed in the process and was re-passed coming out of the berm. That left me in 5th, which I kept to the line. A fun race and nice end to the day. That said, I stayed on after lunch for a gate session then some extra track practice, so I got my money’s worth. Talking of money, I also managed to sell some pedals and wheels, so that almost paid for the trip. So that was my 4th race of the year - all at different tracks in different prefectures (counties) and on two very different bikes. I sell my car next week and move to Tokyo the week after, so am not sure where or when my next race will be, but will keep this blog updated with developments.

Tis sad, I'm no longer that interested in BMX but still have the old goose in the garage.
The site was a great place with some real top blokes.
I pop back every month, don't do Facebook as that's just poison.
Hope you're all well though, whoever reads this

Good to see you Tobe.
It’s always amazing when you finally find a part you’ve been searching for.
Now three will show up at once lmao.
My saddle arrived. I’ll go down and get it shortly. It’s 140cm wide so will suit my sitting up riding position best. IE I’ll be sitting on it rather than if being jammed in my arse lol.

It’s been a while, I hope that you are all good. The search is over! I’ve been looking for years for a Shimano SX front derailleur (fd-mx10). A mixed bundle turned up on eBay titled… Old Bike Lot 80s 90s MTB BMX Vintage Retro, listed as for parts not working. I noticed 2 Shimano SX double chainwheels, a Shimano SX shifting lever and what might be the Shimano SX front derailleur. So I asked the seller and he took a pic a sent it to me. It only bloody is. I put an offer in and the seller accepted, cool. I will have to wait to see if it’s complete, fingers crossed. Let’s see if it cleans up OK. Here’s the pic that confirmed my suspicion

Bought a Ti laid back seat post too.
Also decided to get a new actually comfy saddle. It’s all carbon tho so won’t weigh much.
I’ll put some pics up later.
BTW if you noticed the bars are quite narrow? They are. They were £51 shipped. 10cm wider are £130.
So I’m going to use the extenders to save £80.
Got some clear Ame flange less grips too.

Borrocks. YOLO. Edit. I got, of course, the short stem. Just hoping my shoulder can stand those bars. We shall see.

Fitted the new 2.35" Rant tyre to the front of my Sunday, with the 2.2" from the front moved to the rear. The bike now looks like a "proper" freestyle bike with its wider tyres. Definitely noticed the extra rubber when riding it too. Tbh, it's going to take some getting used to but that just gives me more of an excuse to go to the skate park!
