Still working on my snapped alloy renthal post in the GTS - about a month now

it's over at my mums place and each time i go there i wash out and fill again OA/Hotwater

looks like i shall be done by 2019

then a bit of welding

Could you not get it machined out? There was a guy on recently, a relatively new guy with a mid school GT and drilled the post completely out. He did it at work if I recall

Tis my mistake

i have been using caustic soda on the seat post - the bubbling might be a bit of washing up liquid on the pipe brush i used last after giving it a good clean out of all the sludge - acid oxide was for the rust parts i have been doing

it will come out soon i'm hoping

Looks like it's wide enough to fit a hacksaw blade down the inside of the post now. I'm sure people on here have got them out using that method. Might be worth a shot...

have used before in no particular order ... Electric saw as used at any decent garage, 3 cuts down the sides 10 mins and out , Heat , Old stem down the seat post tighten up heat the post , twist etc 20 mins , diesel ... didnt work ... Good luck , on that I would go down the leccy hacksaw route ...

I used a air saw on one of Digglers frames , took abit of time but came out in the end

i did it for free as he offered me man sex for payment

while i was waiting for it to do it stuff it gave me a chance to try and find some lost bits - a year and a half later i found the packet i lost containing my DX end caps and the old set that were in the pedals - then i found a lost renthal post (used and needs work ) cheers for the one you sold me Daz

I think the seat post is well seized all the way down and that is why it is not coming out well

It's got a hole in the side of the inside of the tube i can feel

I think that the thing is that is has welded all along the tube and not just a bit at the top - this is why it's taking it's time

it's getting more out each time i look at it

this is a build that i can work on as i still haven't got all the parts and the mags need doing - so i just work on one of the others while this is doing

thanks for the offer but it will come out in the end

i'm gonna need a good welded - seat tube has been cut at some point in the past and just need a new bit in it's place or weling adding to it to close up the parts ? any one ? a name ?

no problem just that i have my own engineering machine shop and work for myself

this is my skyway frame having the rust and muck honed out

i was struggling to get a seat post in............. the exact opposite to the trouble your having

i can also make wheel spacers brake parts crank washers etc

and cylinder heads are a speciality

i can weld but i only have a basic mig welder

this seat mast of yours needs tig welding ideally

a very good friend of mine does any welding i need

he can weld steel, stainless steel cast iron bronze, copper ,brass and aluminium

i'm in worcestershire near the safari park and severn valley railway

as i said earlier in your thread a post like aluminium would drill fairly easy ........... is it 22.2 mm ?

also the seat post damage looks straight forward as long as the metals good

would the frame be powdered after ?

yes it alloy - most likely 22.2

yup tube top has two cuts (not by me) and done back it the day i think - will just need a weld and then maybe another cut ?

yes being powdered up

there is one of the extra tubes that is missing a bit of welding ? and as it will be under powder, can your mate do that ? 1/4"

no problem

the seat post would have to be drilled out first

then the tube prepped and welded up and have the expansion slot machined in after
