So whats the difference between these later models to the early models as they look the same  :-\ are thay made by a different company  :-\ :coolsmiley:

Not 100% on who made the 85's ( without looking up the info ) , the early ones 83/maybe 84 were made by VDC . Differences are gussett added under the downtube & forks are kinda slash cut at the bottom , earlier ones were just flat bottom forks .

also the brake bidge was a flat plate on the old ones and at 1st  was it gregs dad who owned STAR PRODUCTS made the 83/84 frames . i was over at a friends house last night and he showed me a magazine with the  STAR  in it

Greg had just come off and incredible season of TOTAL domination in the Pro ranks (1982) and was kicking some tail in 83' also. GT bikes was his sponsor, but due to some contract (or lack there of) disputes, as well as a need for some new motivation, Greg shocked the BMX world by showing up at the 83' NBL Grands in a GHP uniform and riding a GHP bike!

Prior to this event, Gregs Dad had been running a little company called Star Products - most famous for their "Star Bars" and GHP was kind of like taking Star Products to the next level. Having the hottest Pro, a killer team, and good coverage in the mags, GHP thrived for the first year and a half. But the industry as a whole was peaking out, and evolving into different directions.

won a stem for it off usa ebay , it had lots of hammer rash on it and the bolt was in a bad way and also a chunk missing from the bottom part os the stem so i set to work on it 7 hrs later and a full box of 320grt  da disc ! yes 50 disc,s i used on this stem but i do like the end product
i never got any before shots i was to excited to get started on this stem , and this time i have went for the brushed look instead of high mirror finish

That's come up really well, try and get some gun blue to do the shaft and all the stem bolts rather than high shine paint and it will look like new again  :daumenhoch:

Star Products F+F were made by Voris Dixon as well  ;) .

The NBL Grands have always traditionally been in Aug/Sept each year which coincided with GHP being started in Aug 83 , I'm big into GHP myself and have been for a fair few years now after picking up a Sept 83 GHP Pro some years back off a mate from bitd ( it was his last race bike ) . When my Sept83 20" is done it will be the little bro to my Apr84 24" .

Nice work on the stem with the finish , blue the bolts and it'll look real good  ;) .
