"not fussed what model it is as mongoose were the burners of the american market"   ::)

piccy of the frame straight on from the back if you want frame ID  ;)

Forks are the 81+ hi-tensile jobbies.

She'll be sweet all cleaned up - You not keeping it chrome then ?

bloody batteries went flat ive taken delivery of 3 bikes since last night and decided to take pics of this one last.

id like to do the frame candy blue (the original colour before it was chromed) and leave forks chrome as it looks like they have always been that finnish

it would only be a team or super with the T in the serial in that year, fook knows why it has the later style serial, it's not one of those british ammaco made thingy's id it??. Them forks look right to me. why the fook is the gap on the bottom of the box section behind the bb sealed off with some grey shit? is the seatstay on the drive side flat on the inside at the end?

nice find though. you been skip picking in the flood clearing? ;)

the box section behind the bb is sealed metal all round just looks grey in photo, no flat plate on drive side. its may 1981 according to the goose site seems it was the change over months where there used both types of rear dropout.
ill get more pics later

That's not true I'm afraid.

In April 1981 the mongoose serial number style changed, dropping the T prefix for team models and also the C prefix for chatsworth meaning the serial starts with just the month and no longer had a Team/Super identifying character. So from april 81 onwards its D1xxxxx then may its E1xxxxx etc. etc.

Team and supergoose models from this point no longer have the T so there are many Teams / Supers made in 81 that do not have a T stamp.

The way to identify these team/super frames is the good old flat stay or 3 hole brake bridge method as the 3 hole bridge was introduced around the time of changeover and the flat stay was phased out. There are some examples, like I mentioned before, which have both the flat stay AND the 3 hole bridge. There is also a mish mash of dropouts to be found on frames with serials around the may/june 81 serial.

Case in example would be Kev's (KDW712) 81 supergoose, serial is E1xxxxx - newer style dropouts, new serial number (no T stamp) but with the flat stay.

 :)

Yup, the flat stay (or lack of) is the key on this frame as it looks like the brake bridge only has one hole  ;)

Any pics of the back of the bike / chain stays yet ?
