BITD we were given '84 Haro Sport's for the trick team.

3 white and 1 chrome.

They came direct from the UK Haro importer / distributor at the time. I know most of the frames I saw around that time were white, but didn't think the chrome one was anything really special.

It's only now (after some discussion with some of the Haro experts on here) that I've found out a chrome '84 Sport doesn't feature in the Haro catalogue from that year, so I guess it's a rare bit of kit ?

So I tracked down the frame, which is still with one of the other former members of the team, and got a photo. The stickers aren't original, but it's in fair shape and ready for a bit of love.

Does anyone know of any other chrome sports from that year ? Just how rare is it ? Any ideas ?

Mmm . . . I really like that a lot. I fancy a Haro Freestyler to add to the stable, got a real hankering at the moment and this aint helping!

Yea - it's had a change of frame stickers. The originals had green in them, which didn't go with the way the rest of the bike looked. The black writing on the stickers is actually blacked in with marker pen, to get the desired colour scheme.

I've told the owner about the magic that Del can work on decals, so he may invest in something to smarten up the stickers

It was Dom that go this all going - he asked me about a photo of my sport elsewhere on the forum, and I mentioned to him that we had a chrome '84 sport. So I did some digging to get the frame number for him, and this photo. He said it was rare (and that he's not seen one in the flesh), so I wanted to see if anyone else has one or knows of one. They were available in '85 in chrome, by the looks of it, but not officially in '84.

From everyone's reaction to seeing my mates chrome sport has given me the urge to start my next restoration project. I had this kicking around, asking me for attention, and it's something I've been meaning to have a crack at since last summer, but never really got around to doing.

I'll be building it as a bike to ride, and the first stop will be the metal finishers for some nice new chrome.....

Looks a bit rough but I hope it'll come up like new. The forks are fine though and have come up mint with a bit of metal polish.

I'll post up some more photos when I make some progress.

very nice Ade, look forward to seeing that chromed and ready to build. Del does a great set of chrome 84 sport decals on mirror vinyl, same colour as the white sports and they look really good.

I would say thats very rare, its a Taiwan made Gen 3 Sport, I've never seen another Chrome 84 Sport
