Hutch XL24 resto, White or chrome frame and forks?!
« on: April 28, 2010, 10:57 AM »
Hi dudes,

Now Sawzall has worked his magic on my wonky fork leg, I am now at the point now where I have the frame and forks all sweet and ready for finishing, and I really can't decide whether to go down the replating route, or go for SBD's finest white powder.

Stem, wheels, brakes and clamp will be ano blue, along with blue grips and seat, bars and post chrome. Also have blue pads.

What do you think fellas?

I need your help!

Cheers

Weeksy

Either re-chrome

Or go for Black f&f

Alright Scott, I hope you are good mate.

I know it is gonna cost some big bucks, but for me it would have to be CHROME

..Candy Red,...Candy Blue ?

Chrome would be nice, but it'll cost and you need to have a trusty electro-plater.

If you go the pwder route you know Dan will do a top job....Whatever colour

not sure what the OEM colourways were for the XL24? But I'd go for one of those... :daumenhoch:

BTW: If you can't decide just send to me via courier and i'll look after it!  ;)

I think they were white / black and chrome?

As far as I am aware the 24's never came in the sweet colours the 20's did  :'(

I know an absolutely spot on plater man - never let me down so far! And agreed with Dan's work, first class everytime

haha, thanks man, kind offer!

White and take the wife out for DINNER from the money you have saved by not chromming it  :coolsmiley:

Then she will come home and tell you how nice your new WHITE HUTCH is after a few bottles of red  ;D

Then you get to keep her sweet and have a sweet ride  :4_17_5:

Mr Wood I like it!

Good man!

Truth be known, I think she would just be happy that it's built, and not a collection of crap in the dining room!

She gets taken out enough I reckon!

Cheers

If all your parts are blue, it's got to be white or chrome...

The chrome route would be a big effort though, compared to the trusted SBD plan.

I'd love to see a candy one like MB said and black 24's look the dogs..but you'd need to start again on the parts front..

Go for white and get it done..It will look awesome... ;)

Thanks fella.

I think black would need more polished parts instead of blue?

I think we are leaning over to white here dudes..

Not sure what model but Rob Males' cruiser #566 was defo a Hutch 24" and i'm pretty sure it was factory colour too, Looks very blue in the photo but i seem to remeber it being metallic and having a purpleness to it?  just to confuse you some more  ;D

Chrome and blue :smitten:
but also White and blue parts would look good,
if you are going to this much effort to send stuff to Paul,
and hunt parts, I think the chrome route for me,
most people in your shoes go the powder route as It  is easier,
go for chrome, and you know the chrome man is good,

Torker the midlands,

As that really factory? I was told black white and chrome, but I really don't know!

Another colour to add to the list!!

Gary,

You have just readdressed the balance on the chrome man.

The chrome is good fella, really good!

Cheers mate!

SO i got in touch with Rob Males via facebook, he's now living out in California. It turns out his bike was purple sprayed over the chrome which was how he got it from Simon Bailey. I think because i'd seen the colour before i just assumed it was factory :idiot2:

I've got one that may help your decision by at least giving you an idea of what a white one could look like. It looks fine, but the chrome wasn't too bad at all when I powdered it, which I regret now. I appreciate survivor chrome a lot more now, when then I wanted everything mint. And had other chrome Hutch's and wanted something different. Live and learn! Anyway, hope this helps.

whoa - thats sweet Mark.

Its looking like mine will be White and Scotts will be chrome. but then mine had to have a small repair done (which im told is now invisable) so had to be stripped and painted....
