Ok... as things stand theres a serious lack of transitional plywood @ MK11

Stodgy Dave has the big ramp that was on the helipad in storage but we need someone/people to...
- pick it up from Dave & take it to MK
- build it
- take it down
- take it somewhere after.

I will find out from Dave what size van is needed to collect... hopefully a transit van? and ask TwoBob if he is up for putting together... again

Anyone else who thinks they can help then please drop a reply here.

I can bring a couple of decent cordless drills and offer my help , if that is any use . ( Can also bring a chainsaw to make demolition quicker

Just to clarify..... you've got yer ramps mixed up....

The ramp on the helipad was Chilly's kickturn ramp.

The two ramps on the tarmac hardstanding were mine/RADs/Stodgys.

Don't think for a minute that they're a breeze to put up, the quarter pipe in particular is quite a lot of work.

As they're currently completely disassembled they will fit in a transit sized van.

I saw Chilly chuck that kick-turn ramp together in about 30mins flat last year and take it apart in less than half that

I'd be happy to help put them together but it's a hell of a detour from Sheffield to go pick them up..... so if someone can fetch them, then me and Hootski can chuck them together with a few pairs of hands to help?

Spen - Be advised. There's a WORLD of difference between a brand new flat bank wedge ramp like chillys, and a transitioned quarterpipe made from old scrap wood of varying grades and sizes like mine. You and whoever helps you will NOT be chucking that quarter up in 30 mins. I know what I'm talking about, I do this for a living.

Lets not forget, I made those ramps off my own back from SCRAP, buying only the most minimal of timber. The intention was to refurb the quarter before this years MK and bring it up to scratch. Obviously, this never happened as the first mention of ramps that I've heard of is this thread.

It also requires a repair before it can be built, so if people are serious about it they'd best get organised and pm me and I'll explain what needs to be done.

Honestly, If I were you, I'd club together a few quid, buy some cheap shuttering ply & 4x2, and knock up a kickturn ramp just like Chillys. Nice and easy and cheap, buy the wood in MK and you don't have to worry about getting to Wycombe and the few hours labour loading it up into a van.

It was a lot of work for me last year, (someone has to babysit it for the weekend) for something that barely got ridden. I saw all my midschool muckers having a session and a couple of youngsters and that was it.... Hell, I was riding alone for long enough...

Spen and i know it takes more than 30 mins to put a quarter pipe together having built a couple ourselves i think he didn't mean any sarcasm . We would both be willing to help out in any way we could . I myself am a skilled craftsman and Spen designs stuff that is beyond belief , i have accounts with several builders yards and could buy some timber in local to MK if that would be any use .

Good point...

Ramps and alcohol don't mix well, once the beer starts flowing saturday aft no one will bother with the ramps, as Rob and Bru have said it's a big job for summat that won't see a lot of use

A simple flat bank/kick turn ramp would do for those that want a play...

I concor with Betty !

I am trying to raise funds to get the ramp there, however every time I went over nobody was using it ! So not sure it's worth while !

Maybe Spen and Mr Ski can build a lil kick turn / jump ramp instead !

Bob put so much effort into this too !

Guys, I was merely stating how long it actually took Chilly to put his kick-turn ramp up as it was all pre-cut & pre-drilled. I was absolutely amazed how quick he put it up.

A QP on the other hand is a different ball game and having built a couple with Simon (my brother Hootski70) I know they are a work of art and hard labour. It took us a weekend to build this one and we still have it at the side of my house, but it needs a quite large van to move it and Simon has long since sold the van, so it's probably rotted by now $:-\$

I don't think the Health & Safety fun spoilers would want us letting the public on this one though....... and yes, the landing platform is made from two pallets

I must apologise if my last post came across as narky... It's been a long week.....

Anyhoo, I have no doubt you lads can put the ramp up of course. I'm just playing devils advocate, as is my place on this forum

Seriously though, my ramp was also pre cut and pre drilled. But it consists of around 70 or so parts, so it is a job of work to build.

Hootski seems to have it covered as he has trade accounts already open it would be a piece of piss to pick some timber up locally - there's no shortage of vans at MK!!

I had a little go on the ramps last year, first time I had even tried for more than a few years.
I was a bit worried I would bump into someone though where they were. Perhaps a little bit could be fenced off or the ramps put the other way round. Where thay were was a route to the burger van and to the start gate so it was quite busy during the day when I was there. Might make more people have a go perhaps.

I can understand the difficulty of putting them up though. I used to have to do it at displays we did. Our first pipe came apart almost completely apart from the 3 main frames. We ended up colour coding bits to make it easier to do quickly. All done without the aid of a cordless screwdriver as well !
