Gloucestershire riders... New BMX track in planning

For about 12-15 months work has been going on in the background to redevelop the Cheltenham Moors BMX Track. This has been done primarily by the chairman of the Cheltenham and County Cycling club with support of others.

We're now at a point where the council have given us a 15 year lease on the land and we are focusing on funding with some good opportunities lined up. We've also had some quotes for the build based on a spec for a regional standard track.

The aim is to use the clubs funds as backing to get the project off the ground and set up a BMX wing to the club. We already have a number of people very interested in helping but more the merrier.

The next step is for a vote to be made by members of the cycling club to say they back the track project and are happy to put the clubs funds behind this. The challenge we have is convincing the club that there is the support to get this off the ground and that it will be worthwhile and a valuable addition to the club/community.

We are having a meeting for club members to vote on this and we are inviting those with an interest to come along and show support for the project. We also want people to join us to share thoughts on how this will run and operate once built. This meeting is on the 13th Sept in a pub in Cheltenham.

So, if you are interested, either head over to Facebook and look for "Cheltenham BMX Track" or email me on barnt at hotmail dot com or PM me.

Cheers
