closest i've seen is this bit more contrived and some pretty clever mods

it's a trend that's been around for a long time, nothing new as kids in the states have been copying hot rods and since the late 40's/50's

i think you may agree with me on this a full resto on the cards i think

luck for me the tange forks have mint paint still on the shaft so out come the colour chips

Love it mate and i know your paint job will be perfect. This bike defo deserves some love and attention, poor things been left for donkeys by the looks of it.

This should be a good one to watch, oe spec?

will try and keep it to original spec as possible mate but the chrome on the rims are shot they are peeling of the rust under neath

would it be wrong to put 7x rims on ?
and some chen shin comp3 20x125 skin walls

need some help here chaps $:-\$

As I said in my PM reply Mark a survivor build could look cool but if you want it looking mint it does look a prime candidate for a resto as there's a lot of rust coming through the paint and paint missing etc.

Like i said in the PM though mate, just be careful restoring the ashtabula components as they were never a painted finish - more of a rough, metal hardening chemical treatment finish - I'd just try a light de-rust and clean on the ashtabula bits at first - see how they turn out

had a nice sunny day today to match the colour

will be giving the bike a new lease of life as it is shot with corrosion and will just get worse
here is the match i have will be restoring this next year to the best i can

Andy (58DelRay) and I were discussing this the other day and there's nothing wrong with 7X rims as they were out in late '80 but Geese never had them factory fitted. Technically era ok but not OEM parts, so your choice.

Personally I prefer to build bikes as we actually remember them, ie with upgraded parts from around the right year as why would we have stuck with steel rims when affordable alloy ones were about by then? I didn't so that's why my copper coloured '79 Goose has '80 rims and an '80 crankset on it.

If you want a perfect era / OEM bike then prepare for a world of pain looking for tyres, grips and cables my friend as we chucked them BiTD so stocks are few and far between... ;-(

7X were factory spec on the supergoose from 81-82 and were an option wheel for standard geese

late 79 through to early 81 would have been 7c's on supergoose or as an optional upgrade on standard goose

And let's not forget tuffs and motomags where long the choice of many a gusset goose owner throughout the years or a good old set of bog standard FEMCO steel rims - plenty of wheel choice for a goose

cheers for all the info chaps it will be a great help as i get along with this build
there is a a few more questions

as for the grips it has mongoose logo ones on it now that used to be red
some chap is selling repop ones on the bay will they be ok

and it used to have a front brake on it as there was just a spindle left
it was a dia-compe brake any ideas what this would have been

If the repop grips are from bmxproducts.com they are taken from original molds and are fully licensed - they are very good.

The dia compe brake will have been an 890 or 1020
