1985 Curtis Freestyler , UP DATED 8/2/12 MORE PICS
« on: December 16, 2011, 08:48 PM »
Won this 1985 Curtis Freestyler frame/forks on Ebay on Wednesday . The listing said he did not have a strong vice to clamp seat post in so it might be stuck in  ::) , well it was and with it being an alloy jobbie needed some care ,,,,, so armed with the frame set and crossed fingers called round to a mates  :daumenhoch: , so i started gentley heating it up as the last thing i wanted was the alloy seat post to expand quicker than the steel seat tube and ending up with a very distorted seat tube . So after a couple of times of heating it up and let it cool started to try turn the frame , i must say at this point i was praying the seat post didn't snap ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, then bingo it started to turn and Bobs your uncle out it came  :4_17_5:

As you can see in the pic it looks a little sorry for it's self but has no dents , cracks , or rewelds so happy days all round .
Not sure what colour to do it not fussed about chrome as i don't want to wait 9 years till i get it back whoops i ment 9 weeks approx  ::) :LolLolLolLol:  fancy something a bit different ,,,,,,,,,,, Not dayglo orange again  :LolLolLolLol: what are your thoughts guys .

I hate you Darren for two reasons

1st is that you have the grail for me - a curtis freestyler that i also wanted ~ and yes like most i was also watching this  >:(

2nd  is that you got your bloody post out and i'm still working on mine the hard way - i'm still pouring in the bad stuff to turn it black aand dribble out - only another three months more and it might be close  ::) :-[

A mate has a Curtis FS but back in the day cut the stands and pegs off  ???  smoothed them over and kept it that way till today - he still has the forks with the stands

Go Red with white parts  ;)

:LolLolLolLol: I wondered who won that!!well done Darren good score indeed!I too,was eying this up as i thought it would be nice to have a pair of curtis built frames of the same era together, if it didnt go for big money!wanna know what i had in mind for it?...there was a pic of a mid brown ripper at a show on here a couple of weeks back that looked sick,so i was thinking mid brown frame with beige graphics, whitewall tyres, maybe black tuffs??I'm sure you'll make it look lovely either way,you always do!! :daumenhoch:
