Glad to see so many like these as much as I do  :smitten:. I got one for my first bike in Christmas 1979, but was a  blue mk1 like this

I was over the moon to find this mega mega early Grifter a couple of years ago from a  great bloke on a Grifter forum called Lee Warburton . He was a great help later to help me source neccesary parts to complete it.as a complete survivor build  . Never planned it to be a resto
But then I sold it to Sam last year who stripped it to nut and bolts   :), re painted the f&f and bars  and rechromed the rims sourced the NOS tyres but  then sadly lost interest .
I told him if he ever came to sell it on again I wanted first refusal .

I wasn't expecting getting it back in 3 boxes of bits  :D

I then sourced the correct stamped 1976 rear hub, NOS cables, pedals ,chain guard , spoke protector ,R nuts  and other various clips and ancillaries  from Lee and Wayne , Diggler did the wheel build , I polished the remaining bits and built it back up .
Ready to go out on the fields with a football card on the spokes and ride some  the mud humps  :D

Happy days  :)

It's a humble build , no big budget , and  still puts a big smile on my face .

That is spot on, loving the colour, takes me back to times when I didn't have a worry in the world apart from cleaning dog shite out of the soles of my monkey boots  :4_17_5:

Cracking job, as already mentioned, that looks like it came out of the box.

I got a Grifter for Christmas back in 78 or 79, exactly the same as that one and my best mate of the time got a red one. We used to play CHiPs on them  :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
I have loads of fond memories on my old grifter, i even passed my cycling proficiency test on mine

when you had put the last piece back on, did you have to wash your hands 6 times with each of the 3 bars of soap you use and dry them 9 times with 9 different, fresh towels and then walk backwards out of the bathroom, re-tracing every step perfectly to avoid having to start again at the sink...only to realise that the handle is dirty from when you entered the room and therefore you have to start again anyway?

Lovely bike and a 1st class resto, I remember riding it on the vert at Blackpool when it were a survivor ;D
Whats the matter Kid, don't ya like clowns? Don't we make you laugh? Aint we fukkin funny?
