BIG THANKS to NICK SWAN ..... Cleethorpes has got to have been the best ride yet this year .. so many people turned up at one point nearly 80 people

mainly supported by NICKS facebook page ..... great place , great people, great ride round

Bike fo the day for me was defo the DAVE MAW ..aka the "soap dodger" actual race bike a true survivour , ridden by a family member .

Massive thanks to all who came. Especially those that traveled a few miles. But I want to thank couple of people in particular:

Was huge around this area BITD, Wheelways was the GT importer in Grimsby and local tracks included the YMCA there, Kirmington & Grasby etc. Thro Nick's Facebook page (and a few more on here that made the trip) the word spread locally and turns out there's still quite a few middle aged Dad's hanging on to their youth in Lincolnshire & Humberside!!!

Quite a few more were expected too but went to Bug Jam. Was nice to see a few new school riders from GYPOS too. Next year can only get bigger!!

That was old Jim, mad on all things American vintage, Hot Rods, Yanks, Schwinns & 70's Ferraris. We passed him driving home, looked cool as!!!

I can only echo what Andy, Kappy and Lenny have said.
The turn out was awesome, over 80 bikes at it's peak.
However, 90% of the guys who attended this ride were local as well as guys who came from Chesterfield, Doncaster, Hull, Nottingham and beyond.
A big mention to Kappy who drove there and back in the day and Lenny who HAD to have Grimsby Fish & Chips. There is no better....FACT!

A couple of facts:

Cleethorpes held one of the first ever Nationals in the UK in 1981 at the site where we met.
The local bike shop, Wheelways, was the sole UK importer for GT in the 1980s.
During the GT Freestyle World Tours of 85 & 86 the riders stayed here, in Cleethorpes.
I know as my friends and I rode around these streets with Martin Aparijo:

That is how big OS BMX is on the East Coast.

Hopefully next year we can improve on the 60 rider turn out

Meant to add even my Dad rolled up for a nostalgia trip to meet a few & look at the bikes, he loved it!!!! He used to taxi me about to watch the likes of Nick (pos?) & Gary and bought me my first CyclePro BMX from Wheelways.
