As I wrote in a previous post, I have gained a new appreciation for these earlier [pre 1980] bikes as the correct early components are becoming increasingly difficult to source. Patience, diligence & at times, deep pockets are a pre-requesite.

The bike looks great & I love it.

Bit late to the party, but gorgeous bike man. I had an '81 NOS in 2001. I never realised what it was worth so like a pleb I built it up to ride. It had blue Zrims and everything. Took it to the USA, had a really bad spill on it and sold it for $400. Had I held onto it I could have got four times that or more. It was identical to yours only in gold. Only thing I did not like was the unreasonably thin seat post, as I had a hard time getting guts to hold. This was at the dawn of the internet, so information and parts were hard to come by really.

If there is one bike that IMO has not aged much, if at all, it's the Ripper. I had a 2013 "Ripper" and it was stolen. I now have a 2017 Mike Buff. It won't be leaving the house

But yeah, definitely my childhood dream bike. I used to spend my pocket money on mags and sit and stare at it lovingly.
