Who are your favourite bike builders on RAD?
« on: February 12, 2013, 08:22 PM »
It's that time of the year with all those award ceremonies, BAFTA's and what not, so got me thinking..

I'm sure you'll all agree, this site has some of the best bikes and best builders in the world, people will always pat the yanks on the back, but who are your favourite bike builders on here? ??? It'd make for an interesting debate I reckon  :daumenhoch:  :Great_Britain:

- I'll start off with glynnyboy, I first got into OS bikes on burnerworld a few years ago now, and always admired Glynn's attention to detail - from the humble Burner, all the way up to his Natty Pro, and Kuwi Cruiser - he builds some belters. I know he has a few more stonkers up his sleeve too.

- Southern Andy, he may not punt them out as often as some, but he doesn't half know how to throw some bikes together  :smitten: I think you'll all agree that Zeronine was a piece of art  :smitten: speaking to him recently, I know he has some seriously nice builds on the go too  :daumenhoch:

- kungfunky, he wears brown flares and supports Leicester City, but if you want to know anything about the early years, he's the fooking man  :coolsmiley: always surprises me what he manages to drag over from the states, and I love that they end up over here  :4_17_5:

- In2bmx, sole dedication to Robinson, there's not much else you can do but blue/red/white, but every one looks bleedin awesome, top end parts, and also dabbles with the 70's exotica too, top builder is Carl.

- Sawzall, Phil's collection of UK BMX - unbelievable really, some rare old bikes in his garage  I love the history with this stuff, the small independent UK bike builders from bitd, and no one has a collection like it - always a pleasure to see what turns up next  :daumenhoch:

You get the gist though, I could go on all day, but who are your favourite builders on here?

Great minds think alike Tom  ...

You have all mine up there and for the same reasons but i would add 3 more ...

Bobafett ... total dedication to the mongoose brand and turns out a decent original bike .
Marky P .... anyone who wears flip flops all year round deserves a mention  :D
Hunterdubber .... Just always seem to like his builds

just thought of another ..... John cheekythirtysix ... his Redlines always look fantastic , great attention to detail .

I'll probably think of somemore  :D

I agree with you Tom about Carl's bikes, even the older ones that I'm not familiar with look the business. 8)

Nicks builds are awesome also, because I know how much effort he puts in to ensure the right parts go on his bikes. I've tried on several occasions to get him to come with me down Repop Road, but he's having none of it. He obviously has a lot patience, something I have not. ::)

Glynn and RussJ and NeilVV have built some of the finest spec built Raleighs that I've seen, a much finer job than Raleigh ever did. 8)

And finally for me, Christians last few builds have really grabbed my attention, that Torker just blew me away. :daumenhoch:

considering I have had a 5yr break from Rad I can only comment on members from that time & Pk Radman never failed to impress me plus a few guys im afraid I have forgot there names or even the bikes they built

but recently the man KungFunky has made my jaw drop on many occasions with not only the bikes/frames etc he has managed to aquire with all the history & pix to boot so my vote goes to you sir :4_17_5: & the fact that his stuff is SE Race Inc etc related is also a plus for me :daumenhoch:

There are too many guys building good bikes to name them all, but these few come to mind.

Sawzall, Animal, Kappy, Southern Anday, and you cant forget S&MAlex. His collection of "survivor" S&M builds has to be world class.  :daumenhoch:

Steve Animal knows fook all about putting a good bike together - good job Adam AKGOFF puts him straight

Fook me Rob, that's a bit cutting........  >:D :2funny:

Yep, gotta be Steve and Phil Sawzall for me. The bikes they have rescued most people on here would leave in the skip but they produce some of the best restorations I've ever had the pleasure to see :daumenhoch:

one of the top contenders has to be steve costa, his builds are the most attention to detail, colour ect that
i've worked for, proper pain in the ar$e with his chain links painting hundreds of separate links but when you
see the finished result it's amazing,   :daumenhoch:

Ash - Amazing attention to detail and era correct parts  :daumenhoch:

Hunterdubber - That lad knows how to get a build "just right"

Bobbafett - Gone but not forgotten

Snav - Not to shabby  ;)

To be fair anyone who has the time and dedication to source the parts and put them together is amazing in my book  :4_17_5:
I might actually build a bike this year instead of just hoarding parts :)

Munny  :daumenhoch:

Cheers Ed

Yep, all these amateurs could learn alot from me on how to do things the wrong way!!!

Too many good bikes on here to pick a favourite builder, I like both show/era correct builds and survivor finds.

Its all about balance for me.
