Author Topic: OLD SCHOOL BMX's WANTED FOR BOURNEMOUTH REGIONAL SUNDAY JUNE 2nd (Read 6783 times)

Just had a message from the Vice Chairman of the Bournemouth BMX Club asking if i can help them out.

On the 2nd June they have a Southern regional down there and they want to hold an Old school show and shine event on the same day. They would like as many old schoolers and as many old school bikes as they can. Now i know it maybe a little short notice and the Vice chairman is also aware but i said i'd post this up on RAD to try and help them out. From what i can gather there are prizes and such like also........( i think )

So if you think you can make it then please let this thread know and i'll pass on all the info to Andy as i can.

We did one a year or two back down there and it was a great event with the likes of Tim March and Sarah-Jane Nicholls turning up to name but a few. John Johns with his World championship winning Hutch cruiser also came down.

Hopefully i can find out more pretty soon.

Bring as many bikes as you can fit in your car/van. I don't think there are any restrictions.

Ok, had the word that this a 100% defo on. There are no times as of yet but you'll need to be on site earlyish to sort everything out.

B'mouth club will be sorting us a pitch out near some selling stalls to show the bikes. You will need your own stands as the club will not supply these. I don't think there are prizes as such but there will be some stuff like Muc-off that will be handed out.

They're also asking if any riders will be happy to do a parade lap after the Moto's. Personally i wouldn't parade a show bike myself but i do have a rider. Room in car pending that is.

All bikes welcome i suppose, anyhow your son my want to ride the track on it (helmet needed) so it wouldn't hurt to bring it.

I am off Tues and Weds next week and need to swap to rest Sunday and work Tuesday but, there is no work for me on the Tuesday at the moment

This is defo still on so anyone localish to the South then come on down

Get down for about 10am+, i'll get there for that time to sort everything out. The actual racing starts at 12.30 and as it's a regional it should be real good.

The last time I went to Bournemouth with a BMX was in the early 80's !
Just to make sure the track is the one listed on the Bournemouth club website at Iford Lane isn't it ?

Not sure about doing a parade lap, think I will pop to the toilet when that happens !

Yep Iford lane, same place as the 80's but obviously an updated track.

Ok thanks I will see how things go. I've got a couple of bikes I could bring but they are covered in dust at the moment so will need a good clean up. I will have to dig out a couple of paper plates to use as number plates !
