New frame rebuild parts advice?
« on: December 30, 2013, 05:58 PM »
I will be buying a new race frame in the next week or so and would like advice on what decent parts to use for the build. Ie wheels , crank/bb , forks ,headset etc
I'm hoping to get light parts without sacrificing strength..
Thanks..

Buy one of these...

http://www.ridedirectcycle.co.uk/bikes-c1/bmx-bikes-c89/race-c91/haro-blackout-race-bmx-bike-2013-semi-gloss-black-p219

Bargain at that price, the cranks are £200 + on their own.

or are you going the second hand route?

Triton sell the Ripper Elite as a complete but it's the XL frame, that comes in white.

if you want a pro xxl buy the ripper xl and get the frame seperate then sell the xl frame .i have the pro xxl elite ripper frame and its really nice built with all individual parts but this is a very expensive way of doing things buy the complete and change odd part when needed if needed is the way forward

also the complete haro blackout is a mega bike for the monies as on sale everywhere now for last years model and you can get emin xl or xxl

@ 5"10" the XL would be fine (21.5"?) the xxl is prob only .25" longer. id go the complete and once you get a feel of your ns n how it rides you could always upgrade frame later. I'm riding an xl 21.5" (not an SE but I'm 5"11") and it feels bang on and have no plans to change frame

I tested the XL complete for 2024 magazine and at 21"TT it felt too short for me (5'9")

Buying both the complete and a frame and get the forks done black would be some faffing but a nice bike at the end of it OR look in here and BMXTalk for a 2nd bike

didn't know the xl was only 21", a 2nd hand complete would be a good way to go too :daumenhoch:

Still undecided whether to build the bike from scratch or get the ripper xl and swap the bits over.
