I can't see anything positive to come from a dislike button.  :10_2_12:

I dont like doing negative sounding posts but i cant see the point myself. Much better for a member to comment on something which then in turn enriches the site surely?

Happy to be proven wrong though, despite my distain for facebook  :daumenhoch:
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

I think a like thingy might be good in threads that you can't leave a comment in, such as 'me and my bikes'

As said, some will like it and some won't but you have to move with the times and people have asked for it in the past.

Some will use it and some wont  :daumenhoch:

Agreed, but a lot don't/won't. there is a big gap between the number of users that browse the forum and those that post. Hopefully this is a 'halfway house' and a way for those that do browse the forum but don't actually post much (if at all) to show their appreciation. Note this has nothing to do with Facebook (we're still deciding about integrating more with that devil...)

integrating with facebook?

two sperate entitiies that should stay that way in my opinion.

unless there is some grand plan to monitise the forum part of the business ( which i know there isnt) then leave it well alone.

this is a hobby, were hobbyists, and this is our home. make this place better and let that place do what it does...

we are only a click away at the end of the day.

Personally I think a comment takes consideration (most of the time (guilty)).

Likes and dislikes run the risk of turning threads into popularity contests which can be pretty divisive.  Long term members are far more likely to receive "likes" than newbies and although thats probably all there is to it "time", I can see that demotivating new members.

I don't know, perhaps i'm reading too much into this but from where I stand this is a forum that was born from a dedication to BMX, you're adding "social media" functionality ergo diluting what this site is meant to be about  ???

Have to agree with you there Chris.

It doesn't take 2 minutes to comment on someone's build. Imagine what it would be like with 'like' and 'dislike' buttons  ???

I positive comment makes all the difference. If you don't like the build, you don't have to comment but to leave a dislike will be very disheartening and may lead to some not wanting to build anymore. Then the site will become more like a social media site and we can live on threads like 'I chewed on my woman's knickers this morning and it tasted like...'  :yahoo_silent:

No input, no feedback, just a click. Not good I don't think, and I won't be using it  :daumenhoch:

Should we try a 'how much is this worth' or 'offers on this' thread too  :-\

my instinctive dislike of the idea is what makes me curious about the idea

if Chris and Terry still hate it in two months' time, we can still giveit back to fookbook :)

Only an idea folks, we don't have to keep it.......

We just want to 'keep up' with options, if it's not a 'go-er' then we will scrap it........

People I've talked too who use "faceache" seem to really like the "like" feature so I think we should give it a whizz...we've got nothing to loose....

..to be fair I agree with comments about the "dislike" button but I really can't see anyone here on rad really being so negative anyway towards another person's build.....comments at worse only ever seem to be down to "personal"  taste eg z-rims over skyways etc

I've never seen a "your bikes a pos" post unless in jest so why would people go out of their way to dislike something ?

Just because it's there ( the dislike option ) doesn't mean we are all obliged to use it ?

For 'rated' read 'liked' and as we have no dislike button, it will either be greyed (nobody has liked anything of yours) or green. A bit pointless really, I'll probably take that off...
