Just though i would add that i'm not using any fancy machinery for this project, just a 15 year old b&q benchtop pillar drill and the cheapest vice i could find in machine mart. (about 8 quid)

No reason why other radsters couldn't have a go

Likeing the look of this.

My only concern would be the seamless look, Would be OK on a carpet queen, But wouldn't fancy riding it.

So with the drill bit in place it dawned on me that the little pillar drill may struggle removing so much material and a good quality hole saw would be a much better option.

Nevertheless i pressed on and just took my time with it.

It took around 25 mins

was thinking the same thing - won't there need to be a little gap so you can clamp down on the bars better?
looks ace flush, but can see the bars slipping if the 2 parts of the stem are completely flush...

At the moment there is a gap of around 2.5mm between them. if it needs to be bigger I can file one of the internal faces but looking to have an almost seamless gap once installed on a bike

Cool, yeah have seen that.

Had a similar thought myself a while back then they turned up with that. Glad i didn't persue my idea now as i believe it took them a few prototypes to get it right

I looking into cutting fluids and alot of the yank references were talking about using kerosene.
Used the missus sewing machine oil in the end which seemed to work well

Bollocks!, just though while typing this, i have about 2 gallons of paraffin in the shed from the days of the allotment green house heater.

The dreaded tax return and a couple of customers got in the way of progress today

Still managed to square off the bottom of the bolt countersinks and drill the top cap to house a Potts mod bolt head
