Got the frame back from being stripped at Leigh metal polisher today. came up better than i had hoped

Plenty of fettling needed, first of which is to sort this out

Best get practicing with the brazing torch to get these sorted too.

And plenty of filing in the pipeline too

Its a super slow burner but its moving

Tried a stout ratchet strap and a large block of wood along the length of the top tube to try and tease it straight but no luck.

Not to be outdone i have ordered a 16mm cable clamp

plan is to remove the U bolt and use the block as a puller with a couple of long bolts

Another step closer today.
Cable clamp finally arrived and the temptation to have a little play was too great.
Once i had cut the pointy towers off and ground the inside of the clamp smooth i offered it up to the bent tube only to discover the clamp was a little too thick to slide down far enough to meet the dent.
10 mins on the grinder and it was a perfect fit

I cut a few lengths of 10mm threaded rod and drilled a scrap of aluminium to form a clamp end.
The whole thing was mounted over a 4 inch plank of ash timber

I started to tighten the nuts and slowly but surely the top tube began to move back where it belonged.

Once tight to the timber i released the clamps and although much better it wasnt bob on so i cut i fine dip in the timber to pull the tube beyond straight, knowing it would relax straight one i released the pressure

Once straight it was time to break out the rounding tool i made. A slow process of tightening the nuts coupled with rotating the tool with plenty of oil soon had the tube back to being as round as it could be, leaving just the dent to be filled.

Im no metalworker but im pretty pleased with the results
