Spraying a F&F?
« on: November 26, 2014, 05:06 PM »
Just wondering if any of you guys have sprayed any F&F using spay cans?if so whats the best primer and spray to use so it wont chip?also what works best on pedals so they wouldnt chip. :daumenhoch:

What all prep is required in doing all this,do i need to strip the powder of the F&F first etc.

Cheers

Phil's advice is my advice too. Wait till after Christmas and spend that little bit extra sending it to Dan. By the time you've bought glass paper, primer, paint and lacquer, the difference won't be much different, but the finish will be.

You know what they say, 'buy cheap, buy twice'.

you will spend at least £30 on paints a materials to do it yourself,  spend all weekend p1ssing around trying to get it right,  and the end result will look p1ss,  unless you absolutely know what exactly you are doing with the paints my advice is to spend not much more and get it done properly,  it just saves a load of heart ache....

i,ve painted all but two of my bikes with rattlecans, 3 light coats of primer, followed by 3-4 coats of the colour of your choice and 3 coats of laquer. some fine sandpaper inbetween some of the coats to flatten out any issues and thats it. they don't get ridden anyway so no worries about them getting chipped. for cheap paint in almost any colour try graffitti suppliers, about £3 for a 400ml tin. i got an almost perfect colour match for my teal/mint haro master from graff city.

I sprayed mine and got Dan to clearcoat it as I couldn't find the right pink in powder.

He laugher like hell about my shitty 'powdery' spraying tho LOL I soon learned from him to keep the spray can closer to the frame and keep paint 'wet' as you are spraying.

I'm dropping off a 'rattled' f&f to Dan this weekend for him to work his magic on   :daumenhoch:

I'd agree and it's worth waiting and spending the extra money on for the quality finish  :4_17_5:

Spray paint is ok to test what colour you want to do your bike for a trial build, before you send it to Dan for him to do it properly.
