RESCUED PROFILE CHAMP PRO
« on: December 19, 2016, 06:20 PM »
Bought this early Profile Champ pro frame years ago on the bay for the price of a Guinness  :P ... It was time to give some attention to this poor survivor !  :smitten:

Here 's some pics when I had receive the frame ( without forks ) ; Chrome is fully peeling on some places and the drop outs were in very bad condition...  :uglystupid2:

After dechroming the frame and some welds on the drop outs , it looks a little bit better ...

After that ,a lucky trade with a french guy to find the good pro forks to match the frame !  :) sorry no pics when I scored them

It was hard to choose the color I want to do , the chromer are very bad in Belgium so finally black powder choice but need to be paint twice time because I wasn't happy with the first paintjob :knuppel2: .... here 's today the rescued frame with an old school decals set ( not repop ! )  8)

Time to collect and restore some parts to build the beast !

Front Gyrolite 1 & original 80's spider with polish finish ( not repolished ! )

Need now to find the rear hub  and the chanks arms ....  ???

I am currently involved in a couple of 'start with nothing but a damaged frame' projects myself. I can fully understand the joys & sorrows of this kind of build. The joy of having the dropout repair go well, the sorrow of knowing that a second paint job is required when the first is a disapointment, the joy of finding the fork & hub, the realisation that finding a rear hub will be a big big ask.
And so it goes, the ups & downs. It's so good to see that someone has the dedication to save a crippled warrior & even better, to do it right.

Congratulations, you have my respect & my best wishes for success.
I'll be building Quickies till the day I die, ..... & maybe a couple of days after that.

Ok ok ... some updates  ;)

Wheels are build now ! Minty pair of UKAI Box rims in chrome , one was scored in USA years ago and the other one two years ago at MK bought to Nick ( ;) thanks again ) .... restored original front profile gyrolite  ...and for the rear , sorry but I don't want to wait until my retreat to finish the build :idiot2: so it will be ...  a suzue looseball hub tuned with a 24 tpi axle and aluminium collars like og profile to make the joke ... Enjoy ? Build by my self with new spokes and black nipples and a nice survivor pair of Comp 4 in 20 x 1,75 ...

Pic of an original one to compare  ;)
