shimano MX hubs ??
« on: April 23, 2017, 06:11 PM »
 "help"

got these Gold Shimano hubs
thought they were DX but some digging about has shown they are MX hubs, HF-500

stamped up
FL  - Dec 1981
GA - Jan 1982

they have a 15 tooth gear and split ring
the cog will slide on and stop, but the split pin sits in a groove on the outer edge
so the cog is still free to slide sideways
is there a spacer or something that's required?

there's little info on the hubs let alone the parts ...

cheers Kev

Is there a plastic castle thingy behind the sprocket? That could be what you are missing.

Looks like you've got the Model FH-MX60. Hard to see a collar on them. Is there room for another split-pin behind the cog?

:) You should be able to easily get cassette spacers (even coloured ones) from any MTB shop that will stop the sliding and enable you to get perfect chain alignment.
