Dirt Bros
« on: February 24, 2008, 09:23 PM »
Been trying to get hold of a DBI frame for a while now to recapture my forties (used to own a Shortbus and Patriot) - big thanks to Alans who unearthed this little beauty . . .

Tried to keep it early 2000s with layback post, Primo Casket stem and Powerbites.  Check out the 2.25 Max Daddy up front . . . anorexia? . . . no thanks  ;)

That snow bike is possibly the best thing I've ever seen  :smitten:

Deja vu FTW! Keep checking the 'bay now and then with the hope of finding another and spotted a little red Trail R Park just like my old one.  Would've been rude not to so clicked buy it now without hesitation and then did a little digging.  Turns out the seller was BrianP - yep, the little TRP up there  8) Anyway, further googling and pic analysing and I got to wondering if it may even be my old frame - sure enough it arrived safe and sound yesterday (awesome packaging Brian!)

First thing I did was check the seat stays (mine was bought new but Alan did me a deal because the rear stay clearance bends were slightly lop-sided) . . . yep!  Win!!  :D  Even still had traces of my old touch-up paint where I'd chipped paint off the BB shell hammering in the cups - ooops.

Spent this morning retouching and it's now ready to build . . .

Cheers Brian!  You've made an old lady very happy!   :daumenhoch:

Here's how it looked back in 2008 . . .

Planning a pretty similar build . . . looking forward to getting reaquainted  :)

All done - just been for a shakedown ride and it's every bit as good as I remember!  Pretty similar build although I'm now running Holy Rollers (those Max Daddys were hard to get rolling even then and I'm not getting any younger  ;D ).  Just need to replace that noodly stem with a Casket and we're good to go  :daumenhoch:

Nice thread resurrection & great story!
How cool to get your OG frame back?

[edit] oops just realised I'd posted a comment in the museum section  :police:
Will remove it in a bit

Time for an almost-Halloween throwback - 2 years on and it's still here so thought an updated pic was warranted before I try to drag my aging ass into the present with a new-school frame (watch this space).  Managed to source a Primo Casket although Pro XL so too long for a shorty like me but hey the chances of finding a sub 50mm are pretty slim . . . oh and I don't usually run my seat that low - new post slipped down mid-steps  ;D  Still, riding standing-up is character building, right?
