FLOVAL FLYER AGE

 "help"

Hi

I have recently purchased an SE Floval Flyer Looptail 24 and i love it. IT has had a refurb, so it's been professional resprayed and the components have been upgraded. My question is i am trying to identify it's age. I am unsure if it an 80's model or a 2013 model as i know they re-released the model in that year.

I contacted SE and gave them the stamp ref on the rear drop out which is FLV13-3**  I know they did limited runs on these. 250 for the US and 200 for the UK and so on. Am i right to assume that FLV13 is a reference to the 2013 model? If not is there any other method of ageing it correctly?

Thanks in advance

griff

Arrrhhh great thank you so much, that is what i guessed at after looking on the SE website and the 2013 collection and matching the frames etc. I narrowed it down by the SE cut outs on the dropout & just it's general appearance however the welded gusset under the top tube was causing me confusion as SE don't show one on there 2013 official release picture ???

Thanks again, appreciated  :daumenhoch:  :daumenhoch:

Yeah that's kinda weird. The 2013 had SE in the dropout and no gusset and the 2014 has the gusset but no SE lol.

Yeah it is confusing however i believe after a bit more digging i may have the answer...? They frame tested the 2013 bike and found that it wasn't strong enough so they added the gusset afterwards, however this was too close to the press release and the pictures etc had already been produced without the gusset so it was to late to change.

I'm not sure on the strength and accuracy of this info but it does make sense. :)

Oh really?? Ha and i thought I could rest easy with the 2013 answer.. I'm fine whatever the year is i would just like to know for reference. Is there a obvious detail that pins it to 2009/10
