Even further tales from the bodge bench
« on: November 12, 2017, 05:46 PM »
A recent find of some Oddysey xtro front hubs..... but no forks to go with them resulted in the old tin foil hat being donned and a solution sought. A plan was soon put into action and here is the result  :daumenhoch:

Original axle on the left

Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

For those who dont know, these hubs have a 25mm through axle running on large sealed bearings with two large cone shaped spacers and 19mm diameter bolts to clamp the hub axle into a specially made fork... without the fork these hubs are pretty useless.

Mine will now run on a standard M10 bolt and pretty much any fork  :daumenhoch:

And I'm guessing can be easily reverted back into it's original form ?

2 second job Nick. Just slide the axle out and put the original back in  :daumenhoch:

Looks ace Clint  :coolsmiley:

Are you doing the rear one too? Or is that one a standard fitment?

Cheers Terry. Rears are a standard fitment.
Oddly rears seem harder to find than the fronts even though the front are fork specific

Thanks for sharing the pic of them forks. Besides the fact that some may like it and others won't, this looks like a clever idea to avoid any issues with chewed dropouts. Looks very solid.  :daumenhoch:
Sorry for being a bit lazy to investigate myself, are these forks from the mid school era? Everything looks so indestrucible  :daumenhoch:

Thanks Clint, thought the design looks like it could be of the mid 90's. Bet they run smooth as silk too.  :daumenhoch:
