New build - Skyway Streetbeat
« on: October 24, 2017, 09:36 AM »
Picked up this frame, fork and bars at the start of the year and decided to give it a complete make over.

Thankfully it was structurally in decent shape and even though the paint job was lacking a lot.

I always liked the Scotty Freeman red/white bike from the Skyway advert so used that for the inspiration for the build.

I sent the frame directly to the SBD without having physically seen it myself where he stripped it down and did his magic on it.

After that, the bike was sent to me so I finally got a chance to see the bike in the flesh, although that meant starting the decals which I wasn’t looking forward to for obvious reasons.

With that out of the way the building could begin and more than happy with how it turned out.

That looks amazing Alan!  :4_17_5:  I like the red chainring much better on this than the silver one in the add. Great job  :daumenhoch:

Great job Alan...those decals are a pain, done a set myself! The ONLY thing I would change is the chainring! It looks a bit out of place, I just don't believe in anno'd parts on post 85 freestyle bikes!  :daumenhoch:

The are not really Andy, it's more a personal preference. After all the wild colours burst on the scene in early 85 you didn't see much anno.... on freestyle bikes anyway!

Ah, so due to the trend of that time. That makes sense to me.  :coolsmiley:

I've never really been drawn to StreetBeats but that really is lovely... :)

The colours and choice of parts are just so right!

Great attention to detail, and perfect mid 80's BMX... :daumenhoch:
