No doubt there is some sort of solvent out there that would have that brake rub off in a jiffy. Just finding one that doesnt melt the mags $:-\$

Bet some sort of axle mounted crapping tool would go down well. Nice circular scrapping with no fear of digging in or putting gouges in the rim edge

I think the fact that I'm doing it so carefully and my real job taking me away all week are big contributing factors to why I haven't done it yet

I'm happy with the results so far so will carry on, only 3/4 of a wheel to go

Thanks chaps, it’s a bit of a compliment to have these comments from such esteemed builders.

Considering I was actually looking for a frame set for a friend it’s turned into a labour of love.

I think I’m there with bits but now waiting for the refinish on most of the major parts.

I’ve had some little eBay victories with this one. Not only the bike itself but I finally picked up a stamped GT power disc for relative pennies compared to the US market.

Next update will be as when these bits arrive

So my OCD has done my noggin in with the grips. I found a lovely set of white A’me rounds but the grips that came on the bike originally were A’me rounds with no outer flange. Anyway I put up an ad on facefook and got teased with a couple of pairs, knowing I had the white rounds and a set of red Tris I could use as trade bait I went to the cave to get a picture of them. As I walked out I saw this

The positive to come out of this wait for the seat and the frame set to be redone is that the skin on my thumb has grown back after stripping that bloody break rub off.

My phone now recognises my finger print again!

Great thread and a really nice build Nick! I'm a little bit envious of that seat

Hats off for your endurance on them OGK's. I know how much work that is, as I did a set myself a while ago. Next time you have set to be cleaned up, let me know please. I actually enjoyed doing it.
