Rotating your bikes?
« on: March 24, 2018, 10:59 AM »
I have a few builds that are really a display of parts on shelves in my garage and I have 4 bikes and my 30th Anniversary Haro F&F on display in my study, I'd like to get a couple more on display in my study but don't think I really have the space and tbh I don't really want to sell any as they all mean something to me.

What does everyone else do to rotate their bikes, do you:

1. Not bother and leave your builds and parts as they are and don't build up any other bikes?

2. Rotate your builds by taking breaking down current display bikes into parts and storing them and building up the other bikes and putting them on display?

3. Rotate your builds by leaving some part built and on display and build up other bikes?

4. Rearrange/get more space to have more on display

5. Sell the bikes you don't want to have on display anymore

A bit of a first world problem but I'm just curious, I used to keep all my bikes in the garage but no-one except passersby when I opened my garage to get the car out ever really saw them.  Nowadays I quite enjoy being able to see them in my study along with all my other collectables and I will be the first to admit that I don;t really like selling anything and always end up regretting it!

Most of mine are just built and stay that way .

Very rarely I’ll split one and use the parts on another build.

Keep one and sell everything else!

A lot of my builds are not made up.

I still collect all  the parts for them.  Box them up so I know what goes with each build.

Some of mine are part built (the show one's) but only apart enough to put in the car to take to mk each year
My tastes and organisation is changing though and my long term plans are to have a handful of riders built ready to bang in the car at a moments notice and a few show ponies built to veiw in the garage at all times. My space is going to dictate the amount of bikes (thats in my garage) because both my natty's  a hutch cruiser ff and bars and a team rampar have been living wrapped up in the space under our ottoman bed for the last few years and the wife is getting a bit pissed off with it  :LolLolLolLol:

Circumstances are forcing me that way too, managing to hang on to a few though, and selling some is helping me to finish others.

I think my Hoffman Flash read this last night and is worried, while browsing the site later I heard an odd clicking noise and then a "poooffff" and the front inner tube gave out rather loudly...  I hadn't put air in my display bike tyres for weeks though...

I'm going through a similar thought process myself at the moment.

Finally got around to sorting all my parts and frames out over the past few months and when I start building again (yes it's actually happening this time !) the already completed builds are going to be fighting for space. Do I break some down and store the parts, or shock horror sell some  :'(

Decisions, decisions.............
