Driving myself potty fooking about with 10mm boa brakes!
Ive come up with a conversion kit from 10mm to 6mm but sourcing the spring carrier is proving difficult so looking at getting them made.
The kit consists of 4 sealed bearings, carbon steel axle, washers and nuts. Everything you would need to rip out the 10mm axle and fussy bearings and replace with easy fit parts.

Question is what you you be happy paying for such a kit?

Couple of development pics (ignore the temporary bolt and nut) :daumenhoch:

Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

Everyones crying out for the 6mm kits there was an old bike shop that had a stock of 50+ original 6mm kits...I had a few but he stuck the rest on ebay and sold them all in a couple of days at £5 a pop?  I'm always reminded that the reason for the change to 10mm from 6mm was because they snapped easy! so If your making a kit to include a spindle make it a strong one  :daumenhoch:
There is no end to your talent fella look forward to seeing your results  :)

Thanks buddy, the need for 6mm kits plus Chubbys Rob Ridge build is what lead me to putting the two together.
what do you think price wise though?

Mmm? personally I'd be happy to pay £20 a set plus post but I'd leave them in the spares box if it was gonna cost me £40+ for a pair? but other people might say thats a fare price? so just my opinion but i'll be watching as I said I do need a pair lol  :daumenhoch:

This is my problem. I think 15 is reasonable but 20 is a stretch so unless i can find all the componenets stock its not worth persuing other than for my own builds.

4 sealed bearings, 4 brass bushings, 4 washers, axle bolt, spring carrier, locking nut, 2 cupped washers and nylock nut.
Difficult to get it lower than £15 and make it worth my while

If the conversion-kit consists all the parts mentioned above, £20,- would be just fine too. It is handmade right? This clever trick looks like it would make any caliper work much smother and maybe or eventually make the caliper-arms work in synch easily. I think this could be interesting for anyone who actually rides his bike(s) and is tired of adjusting them caliper brakes over and over again.  :daumenhoch:
How comes that a company like DC or ACS never came up with that idea...? Sell the idea and become rich.  :D

dont know if this helps but this is one of rob ridges reaction boa's. this is the 10mm version but i also have one of his 6mm versions and it's exactly the same except it's threaded for a 6mm bolt.

That's brilliant, thanks  :daumenhoch:
Having a hard time finding any and thought about making em myself. That deffo has a home brew look about it. Just need to keep looking for stock ones or work out a way of cutting the slot reliably with the tools I have  :chin:

I don’t have any Boas (calipers or snakes), don’t need a conversion kit and can’t offer any useful opinions but man, I love following your threads Clint! I wish I had your skills and ingenuity! Top bodging mate!

Found one of the black plastic Weinmann spring clamps in my kit box but not been able to find any replacement ones. Suspect the plastic aint up to the job too so had no choice but to make my own.

Made a little clamping jig out of some scrap Ali to keep my bell ringers away from the saw and pretty pleased with the results  :)

The rise of mid prices has made people reluctant to drill forks out these days. 6mm kits are near impossible to find & fiddly to swap over. Best thing about this kit is you don't need to mod the arms for the bearings, this means any dickhead can manage to install it & ride  :daumenhoch:
