Let’s Step Out Of Our Comfort Zone
« on: August 23, 2018, 08:01 PM »
So, as most of you may be aware, my BMX love starts and stops at Old School. I was only on it from ‘83 to ‘87, so know very little about BMX before and after. But, I do admit that in the last 10 years of being on the forum, I have noticed a few Mid School bikes that I’ve been strangely drawn to.

3 off the top of my head are; the WAL, this one belongs to Ed. I love that top tube and decals.

I’m also a fan of Haro Sport’s (can’t remember the year), this one is Wini’s.

And also I like this Master of Robbo’s.

So, let’s see what the rest of you Old Schoolers would choose from Mid, New  or even Vintage, and what OS bike would you Mid boys choose?

I was too busy drinking myself charming and washing the aroma of scampi nik-naks off my fingers by then!
Who wants to ride with Eddie Fiola?

I know what you mean Dan. There are so many really cool looking mid school bikes. I have a platinum-blue '91 Haro Sport myself (like Wini's up there).  :daumenhoch:
They are pretty rare these days, as many people who restored some, didn't like the colour for some reason and changed it to lime or various different colours. Therefore platinum-blue ones aren't many about.

There’s some lovely bikes on there Dan, I’d started to lose interest by about 1987 so don’t remember bmx from that era but here’s a few that really stand out for me.

Especially a 24"

Just saying like

Like you Dan, I was out by around 87 / 88 but a good few years ago I got the bug for mid school, and then discovered new for actual riding.

Built loads of mid now, still love em even though it wasn’t my thing BITD. Love all BMX to be fair. Even one of the burners 😉

Neil, the bathroom's free. Unlike the country under the Thatcherite junta

I have also found myself drawn to mid lately Dan , not the heavy shite mid, more late old stuff. Wouldnt mind a WAL Riot but also drawn to the diamonback tailwhip bashy. Probably cos it looks old school  :LolLolLolLol:
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

I'm another with a growing interest in mid-school, and if you missed it, here's a thread I started with some interesting examples:-

More recently, however, I've been looking at picking up a mid-school race project and have been finding some obscure brands. Jalapeno anyone?

Ok riders, random start. Riders ready, watch the gate old gaijin make a fool of himself! :D
