Spokes & nipples pondering
« on: February 18, 2019, 07:53 PM »
Hi chaps, Your thoughts please.

I have 2 rim sets to lace up for my current build which will be chrome & blue bits (brakes/seat/grips etc) , one set of rims will be my rider the other set potentially show worthy.
The rider set will be blue anodised 7x's with blue hubs  - Spokes? probably stainless but have toyed with titanium purely because of the weight, trouble is that you cannot get chrome look in titanium so would have to opt for blue - but then its too much blue unless chrome nipples (is that too gay re: titanium?).
The Show set will be polished rims and polished hubs with definitely stainless spokes - but do I add blue nipples to keep the theme or will it ruin it?

I really cant decide

Cheers

All personal preferences really. Not a fan of coloured nipples myself.

I am just doing a polished aero rim, polished acs hub stainless spoke set myself. Looks well.

Agree with Smidsy, not a fan of coloured spokes / nipples myself, just think that chrome / silver looks cleaner and you can add colour elsewhere (grips, seats etc). Only coloured nipples that l think look good are black ones (on kuwi laserlites & Hutch's etc), but it is personal preference at the end of the day!

Had alternate Blue and Red nipples BITD and kept that theme going on my builds that have Red and Blue in the colour scheme. Definitely Chrome or Stainless spokes though.  :)

Thanks chaps

Stainless spokes/nipples it is then, at the end of the day the nipples could always be changed once the wheels are built.
