Chain tensioner
« on: April 01, 2019, 04:20 PM »
My Hoffman needs a chain tensioner as the axle is at the rear of the dropouts. I want the tensioner that is basically an aluminium washer with a bit that slots into the dropout in front of the axle. I remember them from several years ago and I think they may have been made by Simple. Can’t find any on a search tho. Does anyone remember them?

Yeah I remember those - they were called "wheel slammers" or something like that. Think each washer had two different settings, so you could flip it 180 degrees for a different tension?

(I remember thinking a ball bearing dropped into the slot would have done a similar job)

That's it. Wheel slammers. I must get some.
