I've Been Building Again.

I'm not out of retirement, but it was nice to get the Elsie Tanners out again.

A mate bought this a few years back and recently asked if I?d put it together for him in exchange for beer. Those that know me, know that's there's not much I won't do for beer.

I said nothing to my mate, he's 10 years younger than me and didn't want to hurt his feelings and he loves it, but I though that in my own mind, I?d be pulling it to bits. But, in all honesty, it's really not that bad at all and he paid ?500, so a bargain I?d say. You've got a nice rideable bike with decent geometry, a Kashi Aero, Tioga tyres, DC levers and the Tuffs. I?d be inclined to change a few parts if it were mine, but it's not and he was made up when he collected it an hour ago.

You could tell the difference between us (enthusiasts) and them (hipsters), straight away he said 'shall a put pegs on it?? and did a bunny hop before he?d even ridden it. 🤣🤣

Like you say fella,it looks nice enough in the classic raleigh colours from bitd  :),Raleigh brought them out for a bit of nostalgia for there so called fans? Trouble is their so called fans who paid around 500 quid for them basically treated them as a cash cow to flip for silly money to the uneducated! As they have continued to do so with every retro raleigh bmx burner re release that they churned out! I wonder how many actual Raleigh bmx fans still have their bikes now?  ???

To be honest John, all the bits I like doing such as headset, BB, crank and chain were already done. A lot of it was pre-assembled, quite badly too, I may add.

He used to work for a company installing CCTV cameras and stuff like that, he works for Siemens now on a laptop, so think he's forgotten how to use them.

Nice to see this on here!

Yes I would always go for the original but fairplay to Raleigh they sold em all, mostly to re sellers but they sold em again too!
The demand was there and has introduced alot of peeps back into the scene.
