Chrome Again?
« on: September 15, 2005, 06:14 PM »
Need your advice please.I have a chrome frame that has a lot of tiny pitting(possibly oxidising) the chrome underneath is pukka! you can scrape it off with your nail but this is very time consuming? so what is the best way to get this blinging again? thx,Daz... :)

Try a very worn scouring pad the green ones, but dont use any
water, worked for me.

the wd40 with the green scourer but don't go mental or you'll scratch the chrome like an esso car wash does to your motor.

Try tea tree oil rubbbed on with a banana skin. this is good for the skin of bikes as well as humans. then clean off and buff that chrome up. If you can't get tee tree oil just soak 2 tea bags in a cup for ten minutes as a cheaper option.

bet you ain't heard that one before???

sombody did mention on here not to use wd40 on chrome...cant remember why tho, it was cos it damages the chrome some how

i always use the finest grade wire wool you can get....0000 gauge...loosly wrapped and peek chrome polish....

didnt do this frame any harm....any excuse to get another pic of my ride on here

Dave
haro, how do you do

I use them soap filled brillo pads with a wee bit of warm water and a few splashes ov vinager.

Very efective.

But, saying that, i very rarly polish a bike.

Shiny is boring.

Ok peeps thanks ;) In the end i used a worn green scouring pad and some wonder wheels chrome polish which i think is a lot less abrasive than autosol? It came up a treat!! :)
