It's like a smoked pain over chrome which you can scratch off with your finger nail

OK like many others I bought a DB Turbo lite with the View to doing it up but asking around no one seems to know a company that can do !! there is lots of talk about Electro plating etc.. and types of paint and smoke chrome lacour etc...

pros and cons to most of them lacour peels off quite easy, Paint never gonna get the right effect

However......

How ever I think I have found a solution

http://www.fhlambert.com/services/nickel_black.htm

the Black Nickel is an Electrolytic colouring process which gives it a BLuish Black Chrome finish I am gonna speak to this lot first thing on Monday to see how I get on this bunch do all sorts so I think they would have no probs doing a F&F

I have a meeting in Watford on Wednesday so I will take the F&F to them see what they got to say !!

I will post a review once I have spoken to them, if they are any good I will let you know and tell them should it go OK to expect a few more calls from here !

Ta for now  :LolLolLolLol:

Firstly, I've never seen such a clean platers workshop before

Secondly, I guess this is the finish you're talking about - look at the black nickle trumpet, it's a thing of beauty  :smitten:

OK Chaps the answer you have all been waiting for I went to there offices today more like a Bank Security Centre the work areas were absolutely Mint I saw them in action doing the Instruments looks metal the colour was amazing.

The MD was very nice and polite and gave me the best advise, the good news is it can be done  :daumenhoch:  the bads new not by this firm  :'( the reason being is there tanks are not large enough to hold a frame of 36" +

However they have put me in touch with the UK Institute of Metal Finishers of which I have now spoken to them and advised them of our problem, he has assured me there are people who can do this work for us in the UK and is going to get me the relevant details

I explained that there are very keen enthusiasts who are after this solution for both new bikes and old bike restorations he has promised to get back to me tomorrow after lunch so watch this space !!!!  :4_17_5:

Once again the solution is out there and nearly in our grasp, I will update you all tomorrow   :LolLolLolLol:

Waiting to find that out but wont to be sure we get the best deal if we know sort of volumes and numbers of people interested in theory we should get it cheaper.  but I will ask for both single and mutliple quotes and see how we go

The one company I quoted earlier are poss in te process of doing some work on this triple chrome for Bently Cars so they must be good but also lets hope the prices are affordable !!! but I will let you once I have seen the pics and shown a few of you,

Danny this firm is based in the Midlands so I might take a trip up there b4 I finish for the year, saying that that only gives me 3 days next week !!! DOH !

will KIT and let you all know  :LolLolLolLol:
