that's the sound of the man . . .
« on: February 11, 2007, 11:23 PM »
ok someone has to explain these chainless bikes to me.

i had never seen "finished" bikes with no chains until i came on this forum. and there is fooking loads here.

what is the deal?

is it to stop you from being tempted to ride it?
or get the chainring dirty?

it's a few quid item and takes minutes to fit.

i can understand not pumping up the tyres, or dialling in the brakes, or truing the rims - when it's just a show bike
but the no chain thing i just dont understand as it makes the bike look like a work in progress. may as well have no tyres either.

sorry if i offend the chain-shy members

Get those fooking chains on you fools. One of the best things about doing it up is riding the fooking thing :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :LolLolLolLol:

Nope, me also  :LolLolLolLol:
As you say it always make the bike look as if it's not quite finished.

A build with no chain or pedals loses a lot of respect in my eyes, I'd much rather see a bike completed and even better to see it ridden.

Bike's are for riding, not masturbating over, even show-bikes deserve a ride now and again, even if it's just a cruise round the block !! ;)

I'm with Ruler on this one, get a chain FFS !!  :LolLolLolLol:

i agree
chains just finish the bikes off.
bloody things cvost a fortune now though.
plus it takes as much thinking to get the right colour chain as anything else on the bike.

:Yawn Smiley:  Not this again  :LolLolLolLol:

I'm one of those people who doesn't put chains on their old school rides - I don't ride my old schoolers and would be tempted to if I fitted a chain. I also don't want my missus to get the arse-ache if I accidentally brush my bike chain on the creame curtains in front of the patio doors or the sofa. ;D

I do, however buy a chain for every build  :idiot2:

There's a lot of guys in the US who don't put chains on either & sometimes pedals too. :(

Too worried about scraping up the chainwheel, which is one of the easiest things to replace so it makes no sense to me either. ???

I put the chain on,even if the bike just sits around not being ridden why leave it off? :uglystupid2:

i can t even finish one bike an some of you  have loads ffs but a bike needs a chain without one its a scooter , i reckon its just a case of too much excitement with a build and early posting , been tempted a few times myself but not gonna post til i have it finished ffs
