My buddy Jason Harvey is well up for some old school racing. Thing is, he's a bit on the tall side. Can anyone recommend some long frames for him to look out for?

I've a Mongoose Rupe frame. The toptube is 19,5 " and with a Hutch stem, it goes very well for me. I'm not a giant, but I'm 1 meter 84 altough and it's fit me well.

Or for a Mid School, the TNT Pro XL were big, beautifull and very durable.

For racing and you want to stay old school legal and still have some of the advantages of mid school then I'd recomend a Haro Pro XL or a Robinson Pro XL.

Like these one's.

Unfortunately both are as rare as fook.

I seem to remember that MCS Magnums came in XL size. Someone I knew who was pretty tall had one and seemed ok. Another rare one though I expect.

If you've seen Stu Thomsen you'll understand why he rode a Proline. He's a big boy and the Proline is an excellent choice.

Spot on Steve, I have a Magnum XL frame and forks and the top tube is 19.5".

old skool legal racing you could try free agent

the pro long / limo has a 21" top tube and decent angles

un-loved brand at the mo in the UK
so can be found pretty cheap for a great bike

haro sports are a good comfortable ride too

Wow!! Thanks for all the help. Sorry I hadn't replied sooner, to be honest I forgot I started the thread!

Those at Braintree last Sunday will know The Harv went for a Haro. He's looking for another frame though, so I'll be sure to put all your kind words of wisdom his way.

I still don't know why they are not rated and worth more than they are, but for me an MRD Pro is a great bike (I started a registry a while back and have only found half a dozen though).

They were built big for Tim, have quality welds and are a timeless design. What with the great angles, colourfull stickers, they are also responsive and fast.

What a great machine.

Mid/new school:- 21 & 3/4" TT

Not sure about the geometry though

Probably better for a vert ramp than racing

( short back end for tailwhips )
