wheel building problems
« on: March 27, 2008, 04:43 PM »
bought some rims, hubs and spokes

the rims are ukai 20 x 175 and the hubs are suzue

just wondered if i have the correct size spokes and if they are different sizes on the back from the front
as ive tried to build them and the spokes became to short and i was unable to lacse the rear wheel
the spokes are14 x184 mm

any help would be appreciated

184mm should be fine if the nipples are long reach, you should have no problem with the rear as usually suzue rear flange hubs are slightly bigger than
the front, you might want to make sure you are lacing it 3 cross and not 4 cross as it will be short using 4 cross lacing pattern.

184mm with long reach nipples using suzue small flange hubs use 3 cross lacing pattern

194mm with long or short reach nipples using suzue small flange hubs use 4 cross lacing pattern

Hope that helps

is the one side that you laced 3 cross? and are the nipples long to give you an idea long reach nipples are 20mm long

also take a photo and post it

uummm  unusual they should be fine, have you measure the spokes to make sure there 184mm
as i've built loads of Ukai's with suzue small flange hubs using 184mm spokes but they are tight
to do. 194mm are the prefered choice
